Opinions Please: 1948 Leaf Jackie

Hi everyone, I recently picked up this 1948 Leaf Jackie Robinson as part of a larger lot of vintage cards, most of which were already graded. I assumed this Jackie wasn't authentic when I bought the lot, but I thought it was worth getting some opinions before writing it off. Unfortunately, I don't have another 1948 Leaf card to compare it against. If you have experience with these and see anything that clearly points one way or the other, I'd love to know. Thanks in advance for taking the time to look.

    Hi - I don't have any copies of 48L cards but I'll go on what I see and I'm no expert.

    The border has photo dots which in my mind means it's a "photocopy" of an original card?

    Appreciate the input! This is the first thought I had as well. I haven't been able to find high enough resolution scans/photos out there to confirm that the borders on these are truly negative space, with only the raw paper coming through.

    Here's a closeup of a PSA graded card.

    We can see that there's no print dots on the light border and look at the black ink area - it's solid and the letters "don't" have print dots...

    And last, there's a slight gloss to your card vs the slight mat finish to the 48L's. The T206s are sort of like that mat finish while a lot of the fakes have more of a glossy finish.

    I agree, the print dots are a real noticeable difference. Other things I noticed, perfectly centered with the same wear on corners. colors/boarders look too dark, and the creases look like someone did that on purpose. The one big crease on the left has white paper in the opening, it shouldn't be white.

    The white paper coming through means newly bent up. If this was so old and the damage was long ago ..that paper would be the same dull color as the border.

    The paper stock should be more grey than white poking thru the crease. Unfortunately a reprint.
