My order 22516XXX. Not on backorder. But still processing after a week.

Yes, received my coin via UPS yesterday, 2-3 day shipping option.

I received one of the Hollis cards with my set as well. It does not match with any of the four posted earlier so I'm guessing they are not autopen. But who knows with AI. I'm curious how many were included with these sets.

Saw ATS of 63 this morning. Just hitting refresh every few seconds, it dropped to 46 quickly, then it dropped from 46 to 0 on my next refresh). Took about ~30 seconds to hit zero. NOTE: I wasn't hitting refresh constantly, as I checked on another item I wanted to get.

I have no idea how many coins the US Mint strikes on each of its dies or how often it changes its dies, so treat this as an education question pls. A certain number of the Semiquincentennial Mercury dimes have shipped, while others won't ship until September. Are all the coins likely struck on the same dies? If yes, will those on backorder, and presumably yet to be struck, be a bit less crisp (ie, fewer MS70s) than the earlier shipments?

"Are all the coins likely struck on the same dies?"

    Not likely imo.

The FHG Proof had at least 3 die sets, with a mintage of 10,000 pcs struck.

My order required a Signature today...Which is weird because NONE of my shipments has ever required a signature in the past 5 years.

Yet, the other day, they delivered one of the $5k Gold coins to a townhouse complex mailbox!

    Consistency!

Nowadays, any 'order' totaling over $600 defaults/requires a signature, even when you choose budget shipping.

And, if you order an ''in stock'' $5k Gold coin, Sig is the default. However if you have a ''backordered'' $245 silver proof set on the same order, they will send the backordered set via signature when it's in stock. Return the set for replacement? They'll send the new set via signature again & again. A benefit to some, a burden to others.

As far as the mail person delivering to the townhouse box w/no sig... Is lazy and should be reprimanded for not leaving a yellow note to go pick up the sig package, imo.

...and now a 2nd package, sent to another address, was NOT delivered because no one was there to sign for it.

For the past few years (someone said it started during COVID), no signatures were being required by the USPS...and now all of a sudden they are now requiring them (for a measly overpriced dime).

I have to figure this out going forward as some of my addresses involve people who work during the day and are not home/available to go to the Post Office during the day.

Have we figured out a common theme for the packages with a signed card and those without?

Is having the new brown packaging tape an indication of those packages with a signed card??

Mine had the brown reinforcement tape, but no Hollis card.

As I've said before, I welcome the brown tape vs the thin, clear tape that is sometimes only taped over the center of the flap.

The post office isn't "all of a sudden ... now requiring" anything "for a measly overpriced dime." The Mint is.

The Mint is paying for a service because they want to minimize the loss YOU as the customer will bear if the item is delivered but you don't receive it. The fact that the post office played fast and loose with a service they were selling during COVID due to carrier safety concerns is neither here nor there.

Neither is the fact that that package only contains "a measly overpriced dime." If the Mint pays for signature required delivery, the package could contain nothing but bubble wrap and a hand signed card, and the post office is still supposed to get that signature.

Mine also had the brown tape, which is why I thought it may have been tampered with. I think I got a Mint package within the last year that could have been opened without disturbing the tape, so I'm glad for the extra security.

FWIW, I just got a notification that my silver proof sets have shipped, but my Merc set is still "processing."

I'm guessing your Merc is probably going to be a while.

Meanwhile, I too got notification that my silver proof sets have shipped...but upon further checking, all they've done is printed out a label and attached it to a box...now comes the long wait for the Mint's contractor to actually wait for the USPS to show up and begin the long trek to my mailbox - oops, nope...There will be no stopping at my Mailbox...because the Mint, in their infinite wisdom has decided that a signature is now required to "Protect my investment" (interestingly, they only pay for $100 worth of insurance on a $2,200+ package! - LOL) and I'll get hand-delivery!!

I had a package of 10 Silver Proof Sets showing shipped since Thursday. Tracking showed USPS waiting for the package clear up until this morning. Normally all my mint stuff gets shipped out of Dallas. This package showed "accepted" by the USPS late last night in Denver. I doubt this one got shipped from Denver, and am betting it just missed an origin scan. I'll see where it originated from when it gets delivered tomorrow.

Wow... I didn't think to check my shipped status being the weekend and yesterday it said the same thing - USPS was awaiting the product.

Yet, today, I see that one set is passing through Richmond, VA - So, yeah, it skipped Dallas by a LOT!

Another set was last seen in Memphis, after passing through Dallas.

Silver proof sets arrived yesterday. Fortunately, I bought an extra storage box from the Mint about 15 years ago that I (amazingly) still have. So I have a place for my two silver and two regular proof sets. We'll see if the mint sets fit, but I'm guessing not.

USPS says the other Merc will arrive on Thursday.

yes. a divot makes it worth at minimum melt but not much over.

it would be different if it were a V75 AGE. these are just too common

Thank you, I thought that would be your response. I'm not 100% sure mine is actually on the surface of the coin, or if it is something within the capsule, as at some angles I don't notice it on the surface. I've been hesitating to open the capsule to check, but your response leads me to think I have little to lose.

be very careful opening the capsule, but you know that. don't use anything to wipe it off or blow it off if it is on the coin. there are many time where i was sure something was on the coin and wasn't and also thought something was just lint on the coin but wasn't

I am quite happy with my BOM Mercury dime set, the privy mark does not appear as evident on the coin in hand as in some of the images I have seen. I wasn't a fan of the privy being on it, but I am curious if others see that as well with the coin in hand vs posted images, or if mine is not well struck. The most disappointing thing is I didn't receive a signed certificate.

    Agree re the privy.

I dont like it on the BOM coins - distracts from the design.

It is hardly noticeable on this issue, but I think for the larger coins , it will be more noticeable.

We still don't know how many got that signed card and how they decided which boxes to place them in.

This might have already been brought up, but I like the "foam like" packaging that makes it easier to pull out the coin and medal. Those clamshells they use for other coins -- you need a pair of pliers and flat-head screwdriver to pry the coins out of the socket.

p.s. - no signed card for me. I used regular shipping if that means anything

Mine has a card too. It is also different than all the ones posted. These are done with a fine point, soft tip black sharpie. There are a couple places where the ink is not as thick, possibly indicating a lighter touch. Also, the writing on mine ends up pretty close to the edge, and the black ink of the P in Paul goes over the blue S in Hollis and it is shinier where it overlaps.

If it is an auto pen and not handwritten, then AI is being used in some way to make them all different, and they are written after the blank card has been printed.

Received my set today. No autographed card. Black spot in photo adjacent to obverse L in Liberty is a loose bit of debris inside the capsule. Possible minor shelf doubling on obverse.

Nearly one week after being made available, my order is still in "Processing" status. I placed my order within the first three minutes of it being available and my order number (USM22516xxx) is smaller than some whom I believe have already received their coins.

I received my coin set yesterday, no signed card from Hollis, which would have been nice. The silver medallion is larger than I thought it would be or maybe it seems that way due to being packaged with the dime. One down, four more to go. :)

MS or SP? I notice that APMEX has the Mercury Dime Gold Coin and Silver Medal set on presale as MS70, but Pinehurst Coins has the set on presale as SP70. The set is really MS, not SP, correct?
