The estimates are indeed stupendous. Stupendously low! I viewed the current sale in London during Coinex and was impressed. Probably won’t bid on much because the things being sold are too far from my primary areas of interest, and because I have better uses for the money right now. But the coins are really friggin’ cool.

I followed the auction and was fortunate to have the assistance of MrEureka. We went one for three. The good news is I got the coin that I had the greatest interest in adding to the collection. I usually find auctions to be a strange process whereby the end result is determined by those that participated… and those who did not. There were some coins that did well and others that I thought could have been stronger. The Victorian crowns did well as I anticipated. Most of the patterns did well. There were certain patterns that rarely are offered including the Victoria Silver Una and the Lion 1839 Crown pattern… A coin well beyond my means. The total hammer for the 200 lots fell within what I anticipated.

I won three lots in the Italian Auction. I thought the prices were very strong. I bid on 17 lots so I was shut out on many coins that I would of loved to have.

But they were generally great coins, and fresh to the market after over 70+ years, so the market excitement was to be expected.
Congratulations on your pickups! Three lots in this market isn’t bad at all.
It also seemed to me that the silver coins were spotted and some uneven toning . Probably because of the storage under the ground for 70 years. The gold coins did not seem to have that spotting.
The middle piece is my favorite. I've noticed a similar one, and same grade if I recall correctly, in a picture that @angelo43 had posted from the last NYINC , in a dealer's case with several Italian coins.

Syracusian Thank you Don't have it in hand yet but looking forward to it. I did post some pics from the international from Gadory offerings , which were outstanding. It's nice that NAC will send to their American office and avoid issues that have plagued coins coming over from Europe

Why would you have to pay import taxes? On the gold coin or the catalog?
I'm in Ireland. We have to pay import taxes on both books and gold bought from outside the EU.

Curious if anyone has heard any updates on the sale of the collection? I check occasionally but haven't seen any changes for a while.
Anyone have a SWAG on who the collector was? Maybe the auction house will release some of the provenance documents on some of the pieces. Peace Roy

Any idea when the Latin coinage will be sold? I don't recall reading anything about it?
I'm hoping there will be something I can both afford and want to buy, though sales to date indicate otherwise. I've only seen crowns and gold.

Thank you First one is graded EF other two were NGC MS 63 and I was able to buy a mistaken bid coin
at NGC MS61
