A look at the Semi Quincentennial silver Proof set

I received my silver Semi Quincentennial Proof set today. I have been complaining that the mint has not done a good job of getting these coins out to the people. Until a few days ago, I didn't know that there was a commemorative reverse for the Sacagawea Dollar as well. At any rate, here are the coins.

The Liberty Dime. This marks the first time Franklin Roosevelt has not appeared on the dime since 1945!
The Statue of Liberty half Dollar, This marks the first time Kennedy has not appeared on the half dollar since 1963!
The Oneida Allies at Valley Forge Dollar
The Mayflower Compact Quarter
The Declaration of Independence Quarter
The Revolutionary War Quarter
The Constitution Quarter
The Gerrysburg Address Quarter
I think that the designs are excellent. I only wish that more members of the general public could see them.

My set came today. Very nice work. I am very impressed with the reverse of the Valley Forge Dollar. Great detail. It appears almost sculpture-like. Bravo!

4 of 6 of my sets are keepers. 2 will be heading back for tidy $490 refund. In all these years I have never bought a proof set from the Mint. Have all the ones my Dad bought in 1975 - 1979 among other things. He really liked the 71S Unc Ikes. I have like a roll of blue packs.
I liked 2026S Saq $ reverse so much I bought an Unc $100 bag of Denver Oneida Bucks for $165 when they were briefly available. So far each one has proof like reverse, but as edge detail was rolled on after strike nothing seems even 65 or better. Put 14 in saflips & 86 to go. I should revisit them as I was hoping for a cool error:

The year of minting, mint mark, and inscription “E PLURIBUS UNUM” are incused on the edge of the coins."
Is the mint mark for the $1 on the edge? All of the coins have visible S mint marks, except the $1.

Got mine today. I actually like it better than I thought I would.
If the mint prices stay this high, though, this is the last set I’ll buy from them for a long time.
The price will have to go higher to make me quit, but not by much. I have a long date run of Proof sets, from 1936, I’d like to continue.
A dream set would be an 1858, without the gold, which was the first regularly issued set. Before then it was hit and miss.
I mean…..does it HAVE to be without the gold? We are dreaming here, right? 🙃

That's why I bought a set for my grandson. Outstanding designs. He used to check change looking for bicentenial quarters. he's gonna love these!
A special set - strike, design, etc. the mint did a great job on this silver proof set. The dime and half dollar are much more impressive in silver proof than in circulation strikes.
Was it worth $245? Maybe not, but the coins are in a different class than circulation. Happy customer.
