a couple of questions to ponder

that swing looked like it produced a can of sweet corn. the cat at the plate must have been stronger than Paul Bunyan on steroids. i wonder what his source of such incomparable strength was?

what type of salary demands would the dude who called that moonshot have to play-by-play my everyday life?

if there was a sweeter swing than this in baseball history, i'm struggling to recall it

    Junior just destroyed this ball

and it's the same guy calling the blast. who IS he?

Will Clark had one of the sweetest swings I ever saw.

The best part was when McGwire crossed the plate and Canseco says ‘you’re welcome’ And then Marky with the sly smile. Those two are a riot. 😂

If I remember correctly Canseco launched one into the upper deck in Toronto that was impressive.

i remember when he hit that bomb. Mcgwire consistently hit the longest home runs of any player i can remember. I know mantle hit a ton of long ones too. So did Killer, but those 2 were before my time

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

I agree with the above, griffey and clark's swings were just beautiful. you can add strawberry to that list too. it seems like lefties have the prettier swings...

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

"Killer" is the #1 right handed home run hitter in the history of the American League. He was the first to clear the left field roof in Detroit and hit the longest HR in his home park old Met Staduim with a 522ft blast and holds the record for the longest HR in Baltimore's old stadium a 470 foot shot.

I have a picture standing next to him. I'm 5'9" at best and he was no taller than me.

    The guy was STRONG!

yes, Killer was one of the greatest "long" home run hitters. i never realized he was not a big huge guy. he must have generated a ton of bat speed! wish i could have seen him take BP live!

How the heck have I gone this long not knowing that Killebrew was so short?

He's listed as 5'11" on some of his cards, but I think he was a little shorter than that. Big Frank was listed at 6'7".

The Killebrew men are physical freaks of nature. They are just not TALL freaks of nature.

His father, a painter and sheriff, was a member of an undefeated football team at Millikin College who was later named an All-American under eventual Pro Football Hall of Fame coach Greasy Neale.

According to family legend, Harmon Killebrew's grandfather was the strongest man in the Union Army, winning every available heavyweight wrestling championship.

Killebrew earned 12 letters in various High School sports and was named an All-American quarterback.

I met his son Ken when I delivered uniforms and rugs to where he worked. Didn't look too different from his dad. Wide shoulders and a decent looking physique, but not imposing. Certainly not very tall.

One day I saw him get excited about something and he made a fist and kind of "pumped" his arm and his forearm tripled in size!

it is interesting seeing some of these guys in person. I never saw killer in person, but I have been fortunate enough to speak to a number of MLB HOFers.
I was really surprised when i was next to both willie mays and later reggie jackson. they were both a fair amount shorter than me. My minds eye always told me these guys were huge men, but in reality they were both probably about 5'10" or so.

I do remember of Willie having big hands. much bigger than his height would have suggested.
