Toned in holder?

What are the chances of this Mercury dime toning in the holder?
Another question is about the CAC sticker. Knowing how CAC and John Albanese are very conservative on stickering colorfully toned coins, in this case a Mercury dime, what are the chances this was approved before the toning occurred?

The TV and the slab shots look completely different. Either PCGS was having a bad day when the pictures were taken or the coin toned in the holder.
Looks like it had toning when it sold two years ago.

Also appears toned back in 2017.

Not much toning and no CAC sticker yet back in 2014.

Not as much as it currently is. In fact it’s mostly white with the sticker.

It looks like it stickered sometime between 2014 and 2017 when it was mostly white.

Not what I would call amazing toning, looks like old dip residue that was not properly rinsed/neutralized.

Interesting also how the pure white TV has some remnants of toning on the rim and the bottom of the fasces where we see the cobalt blue toning today. Maybe quickly dipped before slabbing and the toning has returned?
I'd wager it was stickered before it toned in the holder and then was exposed to light for most of its time in storage after getting the sticker. It's neat to see the progression.

Pretty significant change between 2017-2024 and a totally different look from time TV was taken. Wonder what it looks like in another seven years.

Possibly dip residue. Have you had trouble selling it?
Yes - Any coin can tone (tarnish) in a holder. Especially as time goes on. Now if it was in pvc flips it can get really bad foggy stuff.
What is that that looks like scratches in front of chin?
Fascinating to see this progression.
I don’t think it’s dip residue. Dip residue does not tone in a very appealing manner. It definitely toned in the holder, either through artificial means or from the way it was stored. It looks nice as long as it’s stable.
