Where Probs is concerned almost nothing is legit especially in 4 fig range. Lairs is as Liars do
P.S. even there was a real buyer they will likley get a box full of air or some common junk slab then they have to fight it out with the auction venue. The fact that eBay knows, allows, and supports his criminal acts kind of makes me hope Gamestop does succeed in a hostile take over.

The eBay Authenticity Guarantee eliminates the shenanigans of the seller sending a box of air or common junk slab -- the seller has to send it to PSA for Authentication first. It's one of the best changes to the eBay platform as far as sports cards are concerned (imho).
The good news is that Ryan Cohen is delusional. Cohen is a Bezos acolyte. Realistically he's going to need to raise about $40B to make this happen. Tiny stake and big words reads like activist BS to me. Cohen wants the collectibles only and would otherwise slice ebay into nothing while servicing some $20-$30B in debt on annual revenue around $2B. The savvy investor would just light $10B on fire and consider the rest they didn't spend profit.

Anyone else hear the rumor that PSA removes the mba sticker when you send them to their vault ?
I have not heard this. it wouldnt surprise me though. MBA is a direct competitor and i am sure that they want nothing to do with MBA stickers on their slabs.
PSA effectively already has a sticker program with their half grades. a PSA 8.5 is already a very high end 8 for example.

How do they explain that to the owner? It seems they'd be stealing the cost to sticker it plus the added value. That seems very uncool and I'm not even someone that does the MBA thing.

That doesn't make any sense considering the time and effort it takes to cleanly remove a tamper evident sticker, not to mention the potential to scratch the case when doing so. IT also removes the added value of the sticker, whether that value is perceived or not.
This is an interesting process by PSA and I wonder what their actual reasoning would be. Who cares if MBA is a competitor? You are paying to have your cards in PSA's vault so you should have the freedom to keep any stickers on your slab.

Here’s a better question: if PSA is removing 3rd party stickers from their own graded slabs, what’s to prevent them from repurchasing the card and reassigning it a higher grade?

I had to look this up, and in Section 4.a they do state the following below. Whether the sticker is demonstrating authenticity is a matter of interpretation...
_To the extent that any item(s) includes a sticker demonstrating authenticity, you hereby authorize PSA to remove any such sticker from the item(s) upon the Vault receiving such item. _

well there it is. I guess they can do it. hidden in minutia, but its there. I guess i can see their point, having another company grade PSA's grades.
Would you trust someone else's vault? I've heard things on the Fanatic's vault. Who's stopping malfeasance until one day a story will break on it.. done by unscrupulous workers. By then it's too late.
There have been failures of vaults in other industries - wine for instance. If one of these companies were to become insolvent, good luck getting your cards back, you may not have first rights. Further, the risk of employee theft is always there - these are unregulated entities.
My best stuff is in a safety deposit box at a regulated bank. Definitely risk there as well - there are no risk free options - but I have the keys, the bank is heavily regulated, and no one other than me knows what is in the box.
Check out some of the vids of PWCC employees handling customer cards for an example of employee risk.
you are correct, there can be risk anywhere, but the vaults give me the heebie jeebies. I dont trust any of them. I think the 2 best options are to create your own vault or Bank SD box.
I think there is a difference between using the a vault for storage and using it as a sales vehicle. Regarding the PSA vault, I'm foolish enough to have zero concerns.
I don’t think thats foolish, that PSA vault + insurance should be as derisked as you can get.
I always thought storing cards with PWCC was insane, and while no one lost cards, that business became insolvent and was sold for pennies on the dollar. Could have been much worse.

Given the price point of those cards, it is not $25. Closer to $100
MBA upcharges based on card value, PSA style.

If Gameslop gets their greasy paws on eBay we’re all doomed.

if the card is in MBA's database with the cert does it matter? is the sticker required?

That promotion of statistical nonsense from an accountant is a red flag.
How would a sticker stop them from doing that?
It wouldn't.

Yes risk with anything, but risk at the vaults being mentioned have much higher potential risk.
The question for those who do not have re-sale certificates is skirting around Sales Tax really worth the potential risk in losing everything?

I'd be surprised if your insurance cover a card that you had stored with a card vault company.
