Definitely not an error, it is damage. About 99% of anomolies are damage not errors.
It is only an error if it happens during the striking of the coin. Anything that happens after that is damage.
You need to study on how coins are minted and what an actual error is. A good website for errors is
error-ref.com Also you will need to know the difference between a variety and error, this is important.
We can provide many websites and book references if you are willing to take the time to study them. This is something you are not going to learn overnight.
The fact that you could even think that your quarter is an error shows that you have a lot of studying to do
before you can even consider looking for errors.

No. Your coin has obvious post mint damage.

How do I distinguish between a genuine mint error? And post mint damage. .

    1) Learn how coins are made during the minting process and what types of errors are possible during the minting process.

    2) Study verified examples of errors to learn what the different types actually look like.

    3) Use common sense. If a coin looks like it was smashed repeatedly by a hammer, for example, that's probably exactly what happened.

    4) Stop looking for errors in your pocket change, the Coinstar machine, etc. Major mint errors are much, much rarer than damaged coins, so damaged coins are almost always what you will find.

    5) Only proceed if you have a good eye for detail. This can sometimes be improved with learning and practice, but depends a good deal on your aptitude. If you don't have the eye, you simply won't get very far. Good luck, but to be honest, it doesn't look too promising for you, given the coins you've posted so far.

  • Don't count me out yet. I am willing to study. I understand I will not learn this overnight. That is why I have been contacting you guys because I'm willing to learn.

To be honest, it doesn't seem like you truly have enough motivation for this. From your posts, you seem to have the expectation that the rare coin finds should come quickly and easily, but that couldn't be further from the truth. The learning and studying is only half the battle; you would then have to search thousands to millions of coins to find what you are looking for (varieties & errors that are worth submitting, based on your earlier thread). They're not going to turn up in a handful of pocket change.

You ask me how long I have "been in nematist". If you can't take the time to find and learn the correct term, why would we expect you to learn anything else? You say you're "willing to study" and "willing to learn"; if so, go ahead - that part is up to you. You want to learn about cuds; study cuds. You want to learn about errors; study errors. People here are generally very helpful and happy to assist learning collectors, but the primary responsibility for your learning is on you.

  • You must have serious issues. For you to have to look down on other people. I'm doing this because I enjoy it. But people like you and your comments that look down on others make it not as fun. And you say that people are generally helpful well you are not one of them. I've learned in life that if you don't have anything good to say don't say it at all. Honestly you don't know where I will find an error coin. Just a suggestion why don't you try lifting people up instead of trying to push them away maybe you'll feel better about yourself.

Like I said in your last thread, I'm on your side. I know that you want to submit coins to PCGS, but your coins are only worth face value, so that would be throwing your money away. I also said before that you should have realistic expectations. I do know where you can find error coins, because I have found them myself. The ones that are worth submitting, like you are hoping to find, are far, far rarer than you think they are. They are not found in a handful of coins; a single major error coin might be found in, say, 100 bank boxes of coins (if not more). Coin collecting is a very rich and multi-faceted hobby, so there is no need to fixate on areas where you are continually frustrated. Filling a Whitman folder is a fun project that many collectors enjoy and I hope you will give that some consideration.
