The dealer who has this in his shop thinks it was undergraded as an MS61. What do you think?

    61 seems ok to my inconsistent eyes. perhaps he's in love with the reverse

    Sometimes ownership adds more than a point. Looks like a 61/62 to me.

    Must be ownership bias! Looks really nice for a 61. I agree with the grade though.

    The obv is giving me an AU vibe, I think the rev helped in this case and brought it up to 61.

    I agree with MS62 as the fields are clean enough to qualify IMO. There's not a big price jump from 61 to 62 though.

    Might be the photo and lighting but has an overly dipped look to obverse and luster appears off. The hair also looks off. I'd be happy with a 61 grade and not an AU if sent in.

    IMO at MS61 it is accurate, lackluster, low eye appeal. Not sure if cac would straight grade.

    Its a 61 all day long. The marks on the obverse,wear on the hair and poor luster are what makes me see 61.
    IMO had the reverse not been so pristine I dont think it would have graded above AU

    Luster is not really a factor in grades MS60-62. MS63 requires only "slightly below average luster" or better. PCGS MS60-62 allow luster to be "poor."

    “Wear on the hair” (which doesn’t appear to be the case here) isn’t consistent with “a 61 all day long”. And if a coin’s obverse is AU, it would be extremely unusual for a pristine reverse to bump the grade up to 60 or higher.

    It's an MS 61, its accurately graded .

    It’s at least a 62. You might be able to get it into a 63 holder on a good day. But I think it’s a solid 62.

    61 imo. Face really beat up. 62? No way.

    Just not there for 62.

    Don’t like the dark spot / smudge on reverse.
