Josh Gordon was an unbelievable talent. Early in his career he showed enough to set two NFL records that are quite impressive. Once he was suspended the first time things were essentially over for him.
Justin Blackmon was another potential top tier talent destroyed by substance abuse, he was on the same talent level as Gordon
I do, I think that kid would have been fine had he played now since the NFL softened it's stance on Marijuana
I think he got suspended for a year for having one drink on an airplane while on the substance abuse program? It was definately something completely petty as well as stupid.
There is no comparison with Gordon to Rice, Rice is a thug where Gordon just wanted to get high.
I always felt bad for him
He failed an alcohol test after a private flight that he got drunk on. Because of his previous DUI and failed drug tests he was subject to the highest level of monitoring.
He failed drug tests for every reason possible. Alcohol, making agents, drugs, and PEDs. Ultimately the failed PED tests ended up getting him banned from the league but I doubt anyone really wanted him at that point anyways

Fair enough, his crimes were victimless though, he only hurt himself as far as I know, which we can't say about Rice

The DUI couild have been really bad and he got lucky with that that he got pulled over for speeding and not an ac accident. But yea I dont really care if guys smoke weed specifically if theyre using that over some of the nasty pain killers teams hand out like candy.
Problem with Gordon was he was still using the pain killers and making purple drink and his drugs werent just limited to weed. He would have ended up getting in trouble now even with the weed being legal by the NFL
the most salient point is that for whatever reason, NFL wide receivers seemingly tend to morph into miscreants more than any other position. it's a mile-long list.
Rice
Ruggs

Gordon
Plaxico
Tyreek
Antonio Brown
Beckham (battery)
Jordan Addison (trespassing, DUI)
KeVontae Turpin (gun, drugs)
Xavier Worthy (domestic violence)
Zay Jones (domestic violence)
Michael Thomas (battery)
Chris Olave (wreckless driving)
Davante Adams (assault)
Hollywood Brown (criminal speeding)
Jerry Jeudy (tampering)
Demaryius Thomas (vehicular assault, reckless driving)
Julien Edelman even got arrested
and then we get to a couple of gems that many have probably forgotten about
Rae Carruth, anyone? all he did was hire someone to fill his girlfriend's head full of lead while she was 8 months preggo with his baby
and we certainly can't forget about Donte Stallworth. he plowed into a pedestrian while drunk, killed him, and got 30 days in the cooler. thirty. days. and to add an extra slap to the face, he only served 24 of those 30.
on and freaking on
the more names i come up with, the more i think about what they've done, the more i think about the infuriating "punishments" they received...........the angrier i get
