Seeking Info on a 1794 Copper

I’m wondering if anyone recognizes this. I’m wondering if it could be a George Washington piece of some type. It’s approximately the size of a half cent. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

    I started looking into France Jetons, U.S. colonials including Voce Populi, and contemporary Canadian and Portuguese pieces. There is also part of me that thinks it is a copper medal honoring George Washington's second term/inauguration as President.

    Wood's Hibernias were only made from 1722 to 1724, but the design is wrong anyway.

    Not much. Something in me wants to say "LIBERTY" is the word on the obverse, and "E•PLURIBUS•UNUM" on the reverse. However the only letters that can actually maybe be made out are "L▨B" (obv) and "▨US•" (rev).

    The obverse looks like a bust facing right with 2 bows on the left side.
    I can't find a match for those bows.


    I was thinking GEORGIUS for the reverse IUS visible, but it usually shows up as IVS on coins of that era.
    But GEORGIUS would be on the obverse, not reverse.

    Not really, as even back then the planchets were punched. And if it was struck open collar, letters too near the rim wouldn’t be a huge surprise to me.

    I was checking British coinage and early Canadian tokens, nothing checks the few boxes we have. I believe the portrait is George III, and the reverse is Britannia, or remnants of them.
    Starting to think it’s some fantasy piece someone created, by over stamping or doctoring another coin?

    I was thinking the reverse in particular looked somewhat Roman, but the letters were more modern.

    It's possible this could have been identified fairly quickly if it had been posted to the World Coins subforum. There are some people there who can identify coins amazingly well.
