MS65. I want to add the PL but I just can't
Ms 65
66
(If it's PL, that's a ton of luster for a PL coin)
MS 64
…obverse appears like it could be pl but reverse misses the mark
64PL
MS64pl. Lots of die polish I like the look.
64pl
MS64+ is my guess. I think the reverse misses the PL. Nice coin!
64PL RGDS!

Retiring at 55, what day is today?

Strong 64, just miss on PL

64, no pl. Reverse lacks the necessary mirrors.
bob
PS: love the die polish.
The coin has a lot of eye appeal so grading probably graded it at a level where it would be valued in the $200-$300 range.
Based on what?
This is a GTG thread not an appraise the value thread.
The grade in part determines the value the value does not necessarily determine the grade. Posts like this confuse me. I do not understand this type of mindset.

64PL
65, PL.
I would grade it as MS64+, I suspect that PCGS market graded it MS65PL possibly even MS66. If you understand market grading, you understand the comment by logger7.

... on the fence for MS65... I'll go MS64+...

I like Morgans with semi-pl surfaces. I seek them out.
I also like them with lots of luster and sometimes polish lines. This coin checked all the boxes for what I like.
So I am pleased.

another complaint of market grading is that there is more subjectivity than numeric grading. was the high bid due to someone who just had to have it? or did a number of bidders run a pq coin up? whose pq eye does it use? casein point: 66PL market grade? with the luster breaks on the cheek and neck? no way. pure subjectivity.
technicals, not batted eyes
MS64 PL. gouge on cheek jeeps it from higher grade.
I am hoping 63DMPL with a really bad trueview. But will take half the medicine and go 64PL.
I thought market grading was a term for an AU coin that would be "market graded or accepted" as an MS coin because the market would accept it as such.
Anything else is pure conjecture.

where i've hear it used was on judging various 1794 S$1 and forgetting they go years between sales (market fluctuations anyone?)

66 !! lol "just shoot me"
we were tough, but I really don't like those aforementioned breaks. where did I go wrong?
If those breaks weren't there this coin would likely be a 67
They dont bother me at all. The trueview makes the luster breaks look much more prominent then they are.
The contrast really sets the coin off.

This was one of the cases where the TrueView was not better than I thought the coin would be in a normal photo. The slab picture reassures me that 66 is appropriate. Nice coin!
