My non-Full Band Merc collection, 6 months in.

I have received a few messages regarding this set so thought an update was the easiest way to reply all. It has been a very busy 6 months here. There is a foot path worn in the carpet at the bank to drop off SDB items.
.
At the start I was not a big Fatty Guy but I have to say I like the Fatty Slab more than an OGH now. The White Label is probably my favorite but elusive. The NGC tend to be high grade, the Rattlers often not.
.
It is getting harder to find and/or win these. There are a lot of collectors out there after the same thing. Nice looking coins, in old holders, with the coveted Gold CAC sticker.
.
This 1940-D is the most recent addition. It is rewarding to find a Top Pop 1 of 1 that fits the look of the set. The others in the group shot have all been posted earlier. I have a Full Band coin coming soon and will post an update of that set later, which is much larger.

All gold slabs, that's cool to see
Cool set Tom @pcgscacgold or is that @doesntmatteroldholderwithgoldbean ??
For those that don't know the later date FB's well, the 39 and 45 micro S are not the easiest to find in FB, with the 45-S micro S getting pretty pricey in Gem with FB.
Amazingly, the 39-D is a coin that almost always comes well struck, and is probably rarer to see a Superb Gem in non FB than FB!

@pcgscacgold. Another great grouping of gold CAC’d Mercs!
Again, impressive!

Great set, I must say you have many irons in the fire.
My Collection of Old Holders
Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
Very cool. And the gold beans are a nice touch.
Yes, @pursuitofliberty for some of these it is really hard to find in non-FB holders. The 40-D is an example. There are less than 30 across all grades to have CAC stickers and only 4 have the Gold sticker. I was very lucky to get this date.

I was thinking more in terms of just graded examples (not CAC passed or exceeded), and even raw examples from that far back. As I remember the 43-D and the 39-D were the most common FB's, with it even unusual to see near/full Gem's (now near/full Superb coins?) without them.
I don't really study the CAC pop reports that closely ... although maybe I should.
Someone who might have a good memory on the Merc's from back in the early days of grading is @TomB I think he was also doing some research there, as I shared some early pop data I had with him.

Great stash @pcgscacgold. Are you seeking exclusively non FB holders/coins for this group?
Thanks @MEJ7070 , no I go after both. I am waiting on a FB coin from GC and will update that collection soon. It is at 17 for now.
