My latest NEWP for the 12pc gold set ~ 1905 QE
As some of you may know, I did the 12 piece gold set a few years ago (various grades, AU58 to MS66) and then decided to redo the set all in MS 64.
It’s been a slow process, but I just recently got the Liberty QE
For the grade, I think this is very very nice!

I don’t currently have a group photo, but I have eight of the 12 coins now, still need four…
$10 Liberty
T3 $20 Liberty
T1 gold dollar
T2 gold dollar this one will be tough!
All in MS64…
Thanks @justindan ![]()

Nice one, Terry. I have yet to own a CACG slab.
You've seen this one of mine.

Nice coin all 🪙 👍
I really love that Quarter Eagle and I’m so happy it found its way into your collection! Thanks again, and I’m glad I got to give you a tour of the farm while you were here!
PS- the CAC images look nice.

Very nice. Excellent addition to the set. The Type 2 gold dollar is tough. Best of luck finding a 64 in that design.

@asheland:
Terry - very nice! Best of luck with that $1 T2 - I just “settled” for a pretty nice 1854 PCGS 62. The 64’s were 5 figures + (that is, if you could find one)!
I have a 12 piece PCGS CAC type set, now complete: 6-64’s, 3-64+’s, 2-65’s & that 62 above. I think it’s going to stay that way. As good as the set is, it only ranks #12 in the Registry rankings! If I added a 64 in place of the 62, I would only move up to #11. Tough, competitive collectors in this category!

Yes, indeed, very cool to see the place!

Thanks everybody!
And I agree that type two dollar is gonna be brutal!
If I never succeed, at least I do have an example. It’s just a 58 though and I’m keeping it regardless because it’s such a nice example…

Great addition to your set, Asheland!
I would not get too hung up on getting the Type II Gold Dollar in MS-64.
This one is graded MS-64.
This one is graded MS-63.
Which one do you like better?
@BillJones:
Bill - answering your question, I like the 64 better. I don’t think the OP is necessarily hung up on the 64 for his set; he stated a goal of having his 12 coin set all graded 64. Ambitious & I wish him the best of luck!

Don't let the clash marks on the 1855 gold dollar fool you.
I do like the 64 better for the eye appeal, but I will admit they both look very similar and I know the price difference is pretty dramatic…
That may be the only one I don’t end up getting because of how hard it is, but it’s certainly on my mind for the time being…
By the way, splendid coins, Bill!

That is what’s so interesting about my current example in 58 is it has no clash marks which is almost unusual for one of those!

Thank you! I do appreciate that 👍
