How does one get a new variety designated in the Cherrypickers' Guide?

Is there any process in place for submitting a new significant variety for inclusion in the Cherrypickers Guide?
I have some significant new buffalo nickel varieties that should be considered. Any advice?

    Have you tried contacting them?
Any pics of these varieties on here might help.

I am not a cherrypicker but found this on a search. A few years old so not sure if still active. Also could try the noted authors if one can track them down.

@BUFFNIXX It's been a few years. What's the status of your Buffalo's? Were you ever able to get them published in the CPG?

I just sought out the best looking DDOs for 2015 WDDO-006, 2019 WDDO-011, and 2024 WDDO-002 and crossed my fingers that they will agree. Mine are all exact matches to those at Wexler's https://doubleddie.com/845597.html

IMO they look better than the 2006 FS-102 PCGS MS66RD and 2014 FS-101 PCGS MS67RD Lincolns that I have. They won't grade quite as well, but the doubling is a bit more impressive.

If you can get a hold of Bill Fivaz, He should let you know.

    He's a great guy!

Since Whitman now publishes the Cherrypicker Guide i think they should be contacted first.
    Bill Fivaz too.

Doesn't @JohnF have some type of Whitman connection?

If by connection, you mean is the president and CEO, then yes.

Then it sounds like he'd be the go-to guy for this thread.

There should also be some gatekeeper for the type of coin you're petitioning to add. As far as I know, CPG desires to become more agile in terms of adding coins and publishing the information when compared to the every several years situation with publishing a book, but I don't know how that's going.

Yes, I'm interested in the next edition release date as well.

  • On the reverse side Im looking to “decommission” a variety that doesn’t exist in my series. No TPG service has an example that i know of. I’m working thru CONECA and a notable rep from Cherry Pickers to justify my case. It’s a long and tough process. (I hope I’m wrong.)

    Who's the notable rep?

If possible I'd like to know who to contact for a potential coin variety. I'd like to send them some pictures of the coins to see what they think...

Thank you - there's lots of good info there on varieties. I'll have to check out that CONECA message forum they mentioned. Seems like a good place to start.

Just because no TPG has graded one doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
