Additions to my “Second Box of 20”, Classic Commems.
The 1937S Boone is a lower mintage issue of only 2,506 coins.
The 1938D Texas is a lower mintage issue as well at only 3,775 coins produced. The lowest of any Texas issued.
Zack.
I was always happy to see the higher graded commems, it always brings a smile
I was looking for either a 1854 or 1855 T2 with a CAC sticker in lower MS grade for my type set. These are flat out unavailable, unless one wants to go mid-upper MS for a 5 figure price tag! I was way lucky to find this one (& in an affordable grade/price). Actually nice for the assigned grade; problem free & without any issues.
I received four upgrades to my circulated peace dollar set in March, and just got them photographed today!

Beautiful Peace Dollars, although the grades and images suggest that these examples are circulated, rather than uncirculated. I like the ‘34 and ‘35 Philly coins.

Of course you’re right, I meant to type “circulated”.
Thank you, that ‘35 is especially nice. It’s really tough to find plus coins in that grade, especially in a CACG slab.

Thought this would be a cool and significant addition to the library. While I have neither plans nor budget to collect proof gold, I thought it’d be interesting to learn about it. These two heavy volumes run from dollars to double eagles.
“V” Nickel surprise:
While I’ve never been a hardcore collector of the Liberty Nickel series, I have bought & sold select dates over the years: both 1883’s, 1886, 1912-D & S (a few of the latter & the 1883 NC).
But never the 1885 key date until yesterday:
Super nice example, imo. It has lustrous surfaces & is fully struck with no issues. The obv shows complete hair detail with the stars sharply impressed. The usual rev weak area in the left corn ear area is actually strong on this coin.
Is it CAC worthy? I don’t know, but it’s a welcome first time addition to my collection.
Finally found a great CAC approved 1921 Peace Dollar for my slider set with eye appeal that makes an upgrade worth it. This coin is gorgeous in hand. I’m quite well chuffed as they say. Got some new lights and I can’t wait to photograph it this weekend.
Had to go over budget some to win the auction (price guides have not kept up), but now that it’s in hand my worries are gone.

Really nice coin, my lord how far our artistic sense of coin design has plummeted in 100 years

Eventually, I want to get that in MS 64, I’m dreading that price tag!

Combo NEWP:
The “combo” is the old rattler + gold bean. Very available date; while definitely undergraded, it’s not 65 worthy. JMO.

I’ll have to do my best to take pics of a bunch of new purchases from today’s Battlefield show in Gettysburg.
Here was the only one with a true view. Part of a lot of 5 coins/tokens I bought from Rob and Robbie at the Reeded Edge.

IHC NEWP:
While not a Cherrypicker’s variety, it’s nevertheless impressive. Beautiful coin with nice color, good detail & solid for the assigned grade.
