Forum Rules and Guidelines Reminder

Hello everyone,
While I read through the many recently reported posts, I wanted to issue a blanket reminder for rule 3:
This is a community, as such, slightly off-topic threads are expected, however, topics such as politics or other "taboo" subjects are not permitted. Should the thread be deemed inflammatory, negative, or violate any rules, it will be deleted or closed at the moderator's discretion, without warning.
While many coins are inherently political as they represent moments and people from our country's rich history, please refrain from sharing political opinions or commentary that violates our posted guidelines. Failure to adhere to these guidelines may result in a permanent ban.
Thank you

@HeatherBoyd, this would look even better if it were pinned to the top of the page.😉

Where nobody looks?
@MFeld, @tradedollarnut is correct, unfortunately, pinned threads tend to be glossed over. Maybe next time I'll go with a punchy title and then close it

I voted for change. Good ol’ American change, in the form of coins.

Heather, try adding the word VaultBox. Always worked for me! 🤣😂
@HeatherBoyd, in that case, I’m sure there are numerous forum members who’d be more than happy to suggest some punchy titles for you. But please be careful, as if you make use of the wrong ones, you might have to ban yourself. 😮

I wonder if anyone has ever banned themselves. Devoid of a banable comment though to get banned. Just up and red flagged themselves and left. For whatever reason.
Great image !
Love this forum !
Just remember...the advice you receive on the site is worth every bit of what you paid for it.
It's Holy week.
Forgiveness would seem to be appropriate.
If one is going to bring up religion, doing it in the thread where the head mod is admonishing many for repeated political posts is the place to do it...

My opinion is that Heather's post will get more reads if not pinned to the top of the page.

Heather banned herself to see whether she could and then reinstated her own account. I took a screenshot of the brief period when she was banned for posterity.

It's too bad that Heather was forced to finally step in. People should have done a better job of restraining themselves.
The rules are well-established and many people here repeatedly reminded the miscreants.
By the by,while I have you on the line, a question regarding the badges program.
In perusing my page I noticed a possible?,missing badge for my 12th anniversary date having joined on 1/28/2014. Perhaps an oversight or simply not enough room for that badge.
Not a major concern in the grand scheme of life. But it helps in keeping up with the badges of the assembled multitude within the forum. And good for show and tell😀.
Thank you in advance.
Thank you. Can CU grant Ricko a promotion badge?
Rule #1 - Posts must not contain inappropriate language in the form of cuss words, name-calling, sexual suggestion etc.
I guess it's: Rules for thee but not for me...

First, it was a description, not name calling, and was used to refer to people who were jailed for their actions, so, yeah.
Second, you're the one who criticizes and even ridicules those who try to remind people of the forum rules, so your pretending to be a forum hall monitor certainly is ironic, to say the least.
"Miscreant" just describes people behaving badly. It also wasn't directed at anyone in particular. I think it's a stretch to call that "name-calling".
All comments reflect the opinion of the author, even when irrefutably accurate.
I'd agree, but he's apparently on some kind of mission. Some people tried to keep those threads from going off the rails and taking forum members with them, and he's not happy about it for some reason.
Next step is to pray to mod for forgiveness
Puppers doing his best wolf in sheep’s clothing. Hi Heather 😊

The news of my demise is premature. For now I’ll play nice - but I suspect a day will come when that’s no longer possible. Shrug
There you go again - trying to form some narrative that is not there (accusing me of ridicule or pretending to be a forum hall monitor).
I think there’s a clear misunderstanding here. The situation is being interpreted in a way that doesn’t reflect what actually happened, and it’s creating a narrative that simply isn’t there.
Let’s stick to what’s actually been said and done, rather than assumptions.
You’ve already used name-calling (“miscreants”), which is straightforward. At the same time, you’re calling out others’ behavior while engaging in the same kind of conduct. That inconsistency is hard to ignore.
If we’re going to discuss standards or forum conduct, then those standards need to be applied consistently—including to ourselves.

I (and Google) believe it could be a bit more offensive - more than just people behaving badly...
AI Overview
Yes, "miscreant" is a derogatory term used to describe someone who behaves badly, breaks rules, or acts unlawfully. It conveys strong moral disapproval, branding someone as a scoundrel, villain, or criminal rather than just a minor troublemaker. (Vocabulary.com)

Miscreant is such a strong word. I prefer upstander or veracious poster.
It might tarnish his reputation.
This should offend nobody:
which doesn't change a thing about what I said. It refers to people behaving badly (many did) and it wasn't directed at anyone in particular. That makes it a stretch to call it "name-calling".

I am thankful to our hosts for providing FREE access to this portal to share our enjoyment of the hobby. Participating here (including simply reading and absorbing) has dramatically improved my knowledge and education re: numismatics. For many of us, this is the main outlet to share our collections with others. I hope that the folks that have been turning this place into a circus recently recognize the disrespect their actions may cause others, and consider whether they are adding to or subtracting from this community before posting. Thank you to @HeatherBoyd and the rest of the PCGS team.
Nothing is as expensive as free money.
In America, the spirit of free speech often does go sideways.

The ole PCGS attribution stumper. Is it a MS60 or a Poor-1?
‘Cretin’ is the more correct terminology.
Reminds me of a pizza oven pan.
Like a mob taunting the enforcement lines. Willing to risk it all in the name of...well they don't know exactly the name of, just of lol.
I feel highly offended sir, the design is completely lacking in every respect.
