It does if they didn't sell that many

The ATS also doubled on the Revolutionary War quarter rolls and bags being released tomorrow.

Taking into consideration they were previously released and sold almost to the product limit.

Do you recall any past instances of the Mint adjusting its product limit upwards after the initial release?

  • BillJonesBillJones Posts: 35,653 ✭✭✭✭✭

Won't it be nice if the mint could get some of these coins into circulation? They did it for the 1975-5 celebration.

I guress the mint only makes coins for collectors now. The last I heard, it costs less than 13 cents to make a quarter. I guess 12 cent worth of seigniorage is not enough for the mint.

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

I think it's perfectly fine for the mint to adjust both mintage and product limits before release. After release isn't right.

Lying is the new way in the US. The story can be changed at any time to fit the current event. All is fair even if it is not.

No. And it rather defeats the purpose of having a "limit".

They've doubled the ATS for tomorrow's release of the Rev War quarter, with a "none" for product limits. Mayflower still has the same old limits listed, but the sales reports show those limits have been reached already. I suppose now we cannot trust any limits posted.

That would be my fear. Rev War is fair game, maybe, since it hasn't been released. But it does make planning hard.

They always stuck to past limits for the quarters, especially the S quarters. This might be an error where someone plugged in numbers for the wrong product, and all will be canceled. Until they ship nothing has changed.

Those who were paying $200+ on ebay for a 2-roll set are not going to be happy about this.

2847 sets still available. This would be an easy one for the average Mint shopper to miss, as there has been no email alert to "remind me" and you'd have to click on the "learn more" button and then choose an individual product to see the shiny red button pop up to "Add to bag". Most have taken the Mint at its word on product limits and don't bother looking anymore, assuming its time has passed.

Thx for the further details. I was not able to find it under the menu, but I did a search on the mint's website and found the correct buttons to press.

Any suggestions on the American Revolution quarter? ;)

They will very likely be oblivious or they would have ordered them on the mint site to begin with, they were available for preorder unlike all of the other quarters.

And yet I just sold two of the new two roll sets on EBay for $129 plus shipping for delivery in early May. :(
The sad state of humanity is well, sad. I certainly don't need the money, as I am a retired CPA/patent attorney, but I make what I can extra and donate it all to my local humane society shelter, so there are going to be some happy puppies and kitties.

    They now indicate sold out.

Rolls gone, but Denver bags have 1014 and Philadelphia bags still have 915 to go.

I agree with other comments -- the stated Limits are now useless since the Mint can decide to change their minds after the release date. Seems wrong to me that they are able to do that, but it gave me a chance to get a couple of rolls of the Mayflower Compact (at a huge premium btw). so there's that...

  • mbr33mbr33 Posts: 169 ✭✭✭

They’ve been available almost every morning at 7:30 (today included) for a few minutes in all three variations (rolls, P and D bags)

The quarter roll sets were not available for pre order.

Yeah, I mis-spoke, but they were available again multiple times after the first time offered. It seems like they are either getting cancellations or more likely are just sending more of the business strikes to whoever does their "mint wrap" rolls. I checked in several times on a number of items and they became available again, usually checking real early in the morning.

I would be a bit surprised if they don't offer more rolls of the Revolutionary war quarters too. A bit surprised that they have a one pair limit on the dime rolls, they need to look at EBay and see the demand. They would sell out if they offer 5 per household and increased the limit by a large number. Perhaps they will make some money this year.

Guess the mintage limit. More, less or whatever sells. 🤭

It is still likely that this was an error and these extra rolls never ship. The mint probably won't realize they screwed up until May 7 when they get the delayed product and see all the orders. Then they get cancelled.

If they do ship and are making more, then they lied about the product limit.

It would be nice if they could at least give a little actual information on items currently available for sale that are placed on backorder status in your purchase history, like an estimated shipping date.

But that would be something that I would expect from a competent EBay or Amazon seller, not the same people that brought us the USPS.

Agreed! I think they stated when ordering the Mayflower Compact quarters that the backorder would be to May 7th, but no information was given about a Revolutionary War quarter being backordered until then as well. My backorders don't have a date listed with them in my order history.

Same for my Mayflower order with the initial release ( you know, the one with the product limits ) but my Rev quarters went to backorder over the weekend after being ordered in the first 60 seconds of release.
