I linked an article on coinnews.net. they specifically stated in the article that the mint hasn't added them to the website yet, but they got the information "according to a notice published March 20 in the Federal Register."

How about getting some of them into circulation? That's what the mint's primary function is.

I don't know if the market still exists, but there used to be these bags of State Quarters. You never got to see the coins. If you opened the bag, you nothing but a bunch of spendable quarters. Otherwise, It was a mint sealed "collectable." :*

I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

I wonder if this was a US Mint decision, or whether banks are requesting far fewer coins than in the past, and hence the US Mint has a surplus it needs to get rid of.

Taking into account the large price increases at the Mint as of late, I'd imagine it's a cash grab type situation. They see secondary market prices and want a bigger slice of the retail pie.

Grossly overpriced but we'll take what we can get. 😀

Totally agree, for but the convenience of getting them and having both mints, I'm in.

Maybe using the word "specifically" changed my intended tone. If my response came accross as rude I'm sorry.

Having all the 250th items in your collection with the red, blue and white brushstroke packaging is nice too. Having the dimes in bank wrapped rolls only makes them an ugly duckling of sorts, but that premium...

Next will be bags and rolls of Lincoln cents. They are going to squeeze this 250th anniversary for every dollar they can out of collectors pockets.

Most of the 250th will be dogs as they are being heavily overproduced and will not appreciate. For those who want them just know that prices will likely never go higher, except for a few of them like the silver sets and Congratulations set.

It happened because I completed a couple of mint survey questionnaires and last month and told them they should do this. ;)

You never know. Survey responses like yours probably directly led to this.

Okay guys. Settle down. I just got stuck in the waiting room for a minute while trying to see if these were listed on the website yet. Must be lots of traffic all of a sudden.

Yes, the RCM has for years had a special wrap circulating roll set available ($2, $1, .25, .10, .05), and special wrap rolls of 50 cent pieces, which are no longer circulation coins. Sold as "first strikes", reasonably priced, $129.95 cdn (about $95 usd), in a nice presentation box.

Although I do like the design, not sure how people want more than perhaps two. The reverse a bit "mehhh" but like the obverse and am ok with no Mercury wings adorning the cap FWIW.

I don’t really have a problem with the mint pricing their products appropriately. If they did, the flippers would magically disappear.

Successful transactions with: wondercoin, Tetromibi, PerryHall, PlatinumDuck, JohnMaben/Pegasus Coin & Jewelry, CoinFlip, coinlieutenant, bigjpst, and joebb21.

Waiting room time may be insane. This seems to be the most promoted release of the year so far.
