Today is Monday March 16th, time for Trade Dollars (1873 - 1885). This was designed by William Barber, father of Charles Barber. I believe business strikes were made from 1873 -1878, with proofs only from 1879 - 1885. They were specialized silver coins minted to compete with foreign currency in Asian markets, notably China. They were heavier (420 grains) than standard silver dollars. Many Trade dollars feature small Chinese characters or symbols (chopmarks) stamped by merchants to verify the silver purity. What other U.S. coin has significant post mint damage, yet gets straight graded, lol? My friend @lermish, is an expert on Trade Dollars with chop marks, and has a fantastic collection of them! Maybe we can get him to post one of his today, and share some of his insights?
Here’s mine, no chop marks:

A day without fine wine and working on your coin collection is like a day without sunshine!!!
Picked this one up raw a few years ago at my LCS. Sat in my Dansco album until I graded the whole thing last summer. Got the bean when Dave Kahn sent that group off to CAC for me a few months ago.
Thanks for the kind words @winesteven ! I am indeed a trade dollar fanatic.
My one very pedantic insight will be that, technically, chopmarked trade dollars are not straight graded. It says chopmarked as the details designation right there. They are numerically graded with a details designation.
This is great because it allows one to assess the coin and its various details separately from the chops themselves...but it has also cost me a lot of extra money The chopped T$ community would likely not be as vibrant and strong without these numerical grades though and I appreciate @tradedollarnut getting that ball rolling nearly a quarter century ago.
In honor of my friend @winesteven 's preference for CAC approved coins, here are a few CAC approved key dates (treating 76-CC DDR as a separate date as GSIDs do). These are the only CAC approved examples of these dates.
Today is Tuesday March 17th (St. Patrick’s Day). Our next coin is the Morgan Dollar. Does anyone have one to post with a lot of green (hopefully not PVC, lol)?
Here are two of mine - a common date and a tougher date.

Here is my first, and favorite, graded coin. It’s the anchor of my complete slider set (that I will likely never “finish”).
This coin has a lovely champagne tone that really makes the high relief pop in hand. It also has some interesting mechanical doubling on the reverse on the eagle’s beak, the olive leaves, PEACE, and some of the printing at 10:00 and 2:00.

I have several fake Morgans and Peace dollars that the tobacco and liquor stores take in. None of my raw silver discs survived the purge. I’ll put together small sets from what I have learned (will imitate) from you guys.

Before I post the new day's type, allow me to catch up on the days for which I was absent. Many thanks to @winesteven for keeping the ball rolling while I was away.
3/15: Liberty Seated Dollar Motto (1866-73) - I don't currently have one, and lost the pics of the ones I used to own.
3/16: Trade Dollar (1873-83) - My present type coin is a mere VF35, but I like it for its nice original CircCam appearance.
3/17: Morgan Dollar (1878-1921) - While the NGC photos of my type coin are decent, they do not exhibit the full luster. It is flashier than these pics indicate.
3/17: ☘️ (Bonus Saint Patrick's Day coin) - Ireland: 1805 bronzed copper proof halfpenny of George III, Soho Mint - OK, so this is a bit of a digression here, but hey, you've gotta love a pristine 221-year-old proof coin, right?
3/18: Peace Dollar (1921-35) - You should see this one in hand. It's a real lusterbomb with faint champagne-gold toning, in an OGH.
Collector since 1976. On the CU forums here since 2001.
Good morning. It is Thursday, March 19th. Our type for today is the...
Eisenhower Dollar (1971-78). Note that this refers only to the regular design Ike dollars, NOT the Bicentennial coins. We'll get to all the Bicentennial coins later in the lineup, after we've run through the gold.
I presently do not own any Ike dollars, so I will have to fall back on my early-2000s PCGS Registry type set, with its horrid scanned images. That set lineup included both silver and clad versions of the regular Ike dollars. You can post either silver or clad Ikes today, as long as they're the regular design and not the Bicentennials.

I saw this poor thing sitting at the very bottom of a dealer's bin

I don't have a photo of the reverse. It's a 1926-S
This is one of only two peace dollars I own, the better of the two. Very common coin but I think it’s very beautiful!
