Good ol' Useless Grant... I prefer Robert E Lee.
Just remember...the advice you receive on the site is worth every bit of what you paid for it.
Yikes. Takes courage to say that out loud these days.

Using a useless, untraceable name on a chat board on the internet?
Not that much of a hero...
It used to be widely understood that Confederate Generals were much more effective by almost any measure. Grant understood the math though, which is why the Union had 100k+ more dead than the South. Winners write the history books.
TPring. You prefer Lee, a traitor?
Lol. I didn't say hero.

Not really my point.

The South never wanted to overthrow the U.S. government, they only wanted the right to secede.

Or something....
This is starting to get too political, BUT, the south "only wanted the right to secede", no they only wanted the other "S" word.
That is a separate point.

The south was legally right and morally wrong. That’s where I’d leave it.

General Lee was not a traitor. Read the Declaration of Independence and history books other than the "yankee" ones.
Just playing around

I'm pretty sure that at least 38% of the population in the South wanted a different right entirely.
Actually love how that turned out.

I'm pretty sure that at least 53% of statistics are made up on the spot.

My source is the 1860 U.S. Census. The enslaved accounted for 38.69% of the population of the South. In Mississippi and South Carolina, they were actually a majority.
I'm waiting for someone to complain that he's not holding an olive branch in his other hand.
