Good morning. It is Friday, March 13th. (Yep- the second of three Friday the Thirteenths we will have this year!)
Today's type slot is the Commemorative Half Dollar (1892-1954).
For this slot you may post any type of Classic silver commemorative half dollar from 1892-1954.
Since I am supposedly a distant maternal descendant of William Bradford, the Pilgrim governor, the Pilgrim half dollar was the "must have" type for me. This one in my current collection is in an early (Generation 5.0) NGC "no-line fatty" slab, circa 1992-1995.
I recently had some AI-generated fun with this design, as seen in the popular Chat-GPT thread. Note how the Gemini AI bot engraved the coin's lettering onto the gunwales of the ship.

Yes, in the physical album. But not in the Registry set lineup we're using. We move on to the Seated dollars tomorrow, but y'all can post as many different commemorative halves as you like today.

Today we move into the silver dollars. Our type for today is the Liberty Seated Dollar No Motto (1840-65).
I think my all-type "best of type" was an AU50 I had in an old small white ANACS holder, decades ago. I have no pictures of it. That coin was pretty generic in terms of eye appeal anyway- as I recall, it was a bit overdipped and scuffy. Anyway, here is the example from my current collection. It's only a VF30, but I think it has a wholesome original look and decent eye appeal for the grade.
Not so wholesome is the other 1860-O I own, which is in my "holey" type set on the cork board. Right next to the empty slot for the With Motto Seated dollar, which is the only type I lack to complete the holed 19th century basic type set.
And from the "used to be mine" files, there's this crusty CircCam 1847 that was in a blue ANACS holder. I forget the grade now. 45, maybe?

This is really a nice PR-64. You have to look it from an angle. The window for getting this in Proof is kind of narrow. It's limited to 1858 to 1865 because of the addition of the "In God we trust" motto.

Ok, apparently @lordmarcovan is taking this time off, so as he requested of me a few weeks ago, I’ll fill in.
Today is Sunday March 15th. Although Shakespeare told us to “Beware the Ides of March”, we’ll all be safe today replying with photos of Seated Dollars with the motto “In God We Trust” on the reverse (1866 - 1873). The first U.S. coin to display that motto was the 1864 Two Cent piece.
Here’s my Seated Dollar. Unlike mine from yesterday, this one failed getting a plus via Reconsideration, just like most of my attempts have also failed.

Wow. I didn't either, until you shared that just now. Looks like they took the same design, just added an additional spritsail to to the ship, and called it a day. (Yeah, I had to look up what that small sail under the bowsprit is called.)
