With my wife retiring at the end of the school year, I promised myself to cut back on coin buying and thin out my collection. Well, ever once in a while I see a coin that just strikes my fancy. The seller called this VF

I suspect this was a pocket piece- perhaps a veteran of the Franco-Prussian War. I simply do not recall seeing one with this amount of wear/circulation. Imagine where the coin has been…
Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.
If the coins was VF, I would have never bought it.

Yeah, sometimes I can't help myself, either, and so I have to make a newp... from you.

That's a very cool find!
Can you post the weight of the coin please?
The Vereinsthaler was demonetized on october 1st, 1907.
So your coin may have been in circulation for over 35 years.
A lot of early (1870's) German Empire silver coins were heavily used and pretty slick when they were demonetized between 1917 - 1919, but your coin really stands out!
