On February 14, 1986, Boston Celtics forward Larry Bird famously played a "left-handed" game against the Portland Trail Blazers, scoring 47 points, grabbing 14 rebounds, and recording 11 assists in a 120-119 overtime victory. Bored during a road trip, Bird declared he was "saving his right hand for the Lakers" and proceeded to shoot mostly with his left hand, scoring 10 of his 21 field goals with it.
This video shows some of the incredible highlights from Larry Bird's famous left-handed game:
I didn’t say I knew how to use one that well. I just went along because you said you had a bunch of wax boxes in the back of your van. Still waiting . And enough with the hose!
I received a birthday card from Memory Lane in December 2025 with an ‘89 Topps wax pack…and was zonked…no star power. I think Memory Lane searched the pack for Gregg Jeffries card!
Ironically, I just saw someone send Baines that card and $20 TTM and it turned out beautifully in blue. All the comments said something like “wow can’t believe how good that card looks signed” and “looks better signed than unsigned.”

Larry Legend signed 4 of my RIP cards yesterday. A few pics that were texted to me.
Larry shoots right handed…but writes left handed. I didn’t know that…
So Di but I’m not nearly as good. 😊
Larry could shoot both right and left handed. There’s some great clips out there talking about this

ooh what's in the BBCE box?
What do we have here?!
As long as not 90 Don Russ. 😎
Will report back tomorrow. Scanning in right now and my wife if running the forklift...
1988 Donruss. Forklift was the clue
Or bricks of gold.
Those are some great 90's Basketball boxes. Good luck when you rip them!
All this from one carton? Outstanding packaging skills!
Took a forklift and a day just to open the box!

Do you think Bowman ever went back and said, "Ooops, we totally got the player we used on the box wrong?" LOL
I was wrong we are gonna need another forklift this is gonna take weeks to unload.

I want to see you pull some crazy rare insert like an Extreme 1/1 1998 SPX!
The next 3 came from an auction
Received this in the mail a month or so ago. I'm a little nervous......
Pack seems legit. I have never opened an 89 before. I am literally shaking.....

No need to be nervous Chris. Rip away. This pack is "the Real one!"
buying O-Pee-Chee (OPC) baseball cards
also collecting US & Canadian silver coins
Don't forget to try and win the trip to Spring Training.
I pulled a randy Johnson in mine
My 10 year old self would hope for 15 Jose Cansecos in that pack.
That was a rush - hit a Harold Baines and a Rock Raines.....I'm starting to calm down....
Too bad the Raines is a little OC. I'd still submit it though. That's one tough card to find in any condition.

Nice. Tim Raines "Rock" variation SSP! I think they were 1 per 360,000 boxes for 1989 Topps, which means there are probably 20,000 made.
Finding some more for the RIP stash...
Nature's Silver and Gold....
Nice! Great view
