What is your favorite slab type?

I know the saying “buy the coin, NOT the holder” but that doesn’t mean that holders can’t be appealing! What is your favorite type of holder? Personally, I like PCGS’s OGH alongside the rattler and NGC's fatty slab.

I do like the OGH, but I do prefer the Gold Shield holders. Especially those with the NFC chip.
Definitely an excellent option! I really do love how PCGS is above all other companies in ensuring authenticity in the holder and the coin

OGH Encapsulating Gold.
I think they're all terrible. I want exotic wood, metal inlays, internal side lighting, lichtenburg filled with colored epoxys, etc. All customized to compliment the coin.
The hideous appearance of slabs is just a blindspot of the hobby. IMHO
Ditto regarding OGH. Absolutely love them if the coin is right.

I like the Compugrade - wish the major TPG's had copied it - easy to find a coin in the box with the info on the top of the slab.
I like the second gen PCGS holders from late 1989.

I also really like the early gold shield holders from 2010-2012. Unfortunately I don't own any coins in that holder
I do like this one.

PCGS Gen 2 holders are fun to find. Very scarce for sure. Here are 3 different versions. Some used for only a month or two.

Early ANA holders.
Looking for PCGS AU58 Washington's, 32-63.
Not something they’ll do for the Peasantry
I like ANACS holders.

I prefer no holder at all. Second choice would be a Rattler.

Gold coins in old green holders are my favorite.
Great pick!

Always liked these.
If based only on the geometry of the outer plastic encasement, then my preference is the current ANACS.
Of course, there are many other factors to consider.
For the aesthetics of the labels inside the holders, my favorite is the PCGS "doily" because they are scarce and they look like money.
My current favorite holders...

OGH.
For a seemingly beefy feel and look to it. I've held a few SEGS holders. I think part of the label is on the top edge. Makes it easier to ID the holder in the box.
Plus, I like the CAC holders. Actually, I like anything with a coin in it.
While the geometry of the shape is different so CACG cases are best for them, I really like the clear hard plastic material of the CACG slab, particularly compared to the newer ANACS that seems a bit opaque and the wider field of vision compared to my old NGC/ANACS soapbox looking holders.
I'm fine with any of the PCGS holders and like the doily and rattlers that I have just for their reminder of when I started buying slabbed coins long ago.
I'm partial to the new generation of PCGS holders with NFC technology... especially with a green bean and a TV.
Slabs that I don't necessarily go out of my way to find but I'm pleasantly surprised when a coin I want is offered in them:

I would love for PCGS to do an ANACS slant so it's easy to see what the coin is in a slab box.
True, this would definitely make things more efficient, although seeing as ANACS has already done this I think it'd be cool if they did something similar but unique

Maybe make the top of the slab a flat surface so we could attach our own P-Touch style labels?
This:

Yeah, that would certainly work although I think if anything the labels should come alongside a submission.

Came across one of these recently. Fantastic holder! I understand this was Jeff Garrett's company?
That is a really nice OGH Barber!

Just going through a few AI responses, I doubt that it was owned by Jeff Garrett. While it wasn't possible to get an answer as to who owned the grading company before it was defunct, I do believe that if it were truly owned by a significant numismatist, there would be some way much easier than it is now to figure out who owned it.
