I still have them in my subs but may pause, still considering. They are pretty expensive for mint sets, like 4x anything before. If I go with it, I will only get one.
Backed out ? Not completely. Usual is to buy 6 to 8 Unc mint sets as well as the same in clad and silver proof sets. I have Dansco albums that I have in several different series. Some I have two, some three of the same series. I break out three of each to fill my albums, the rest just go in the safe. This year, not happening. I'll buy just the three to break out. None for the safe.

I can only say that if there's anything that could possibly stop me from collecting modern coins after 60+ years of doing so, it's a 4-fold price increase in a set that has little bullion value.
It seems too early to make a judgement on these sets without knowing what the mintage and contents are. many are assuming what is in the set but they are June 30th in the schedule because there may be other additions.

I ordered two 2025 Silver proof sets last week and got them today. Gotta say they look amazing and I would be very surprised if the two S proof cents weren’t 70 DCAMs….but not going to break the sets up…..yet. 😉

I get about 2 returns per year out of 3000 shipments - and it has never been due to prices collapsing.

Does anyone here remember the 1976 proof sets? MANY people thought they were a SURE winner as a lot of people thought. It's a CAN'T MISS! I bought at least 20 sets back then. Right now I can buy those same exact sets for about half of the original mint price. So I'm a hard pass this time around. Good luck to those who do get them!
You only live life once, enjoy it like it's your last day. It just MIGHT be!
It will be interesting to see how long the hype lasts for the various releases before the price collapse, with coins available from the bank going for hundreds of dollars for a few rolls on EBay. This may be the mint intention in not having subscriptions available for the quarters or half and having fairly low limits on availability. It really is more difficult to get what you are looking for out of circulation unless you are lucky or your bank likes you.

You're missing the key difference. They minted 4 MILLION 1976 proof sets and all the coins in it were released into circulation as business strikes. The 2026 mint set is limited to 190,000 and it is the ONLY place to get business strikes Lincoln cents. How many business strike Lincoln cents have mintages of 190,000?

Even so, it's nothing more than a cynical, obnoxious money grab. A poor man's version of the privy coin auctions.
As far as I'm concerned, they can keep them. The circulating Lincoln cent series ended in 2025.

They will be never be rare. Desirable is obviously in the eye of the beholder.
I have better things to do with $124.50 than buy $6 worth of change from the Mint. I know I am not alone. I'm a little surprised that the guy who couldn't flip his 5 2025 silver proof sets fast enough thinks these are going to have secondary market value when they are being issued at $124.50, and when it is now clear that Lincoln cents are not going anywhere.

That point is tangential to mine. The argument for these being flippable is based on what's in them.
Do you think I bought the 2025 silver sets for long term appreciation? I bought them to flip and I flipped them. So, again, you are off on a tangent. I'm not sure why you'd even bring that up. I made $300 in 24 hours flipping them. That was the whole reason I bought them.
I'm not going to be setting aside 2026 Mint sets either. I don't think anyone should buy from the Mint for long term appreciation. I've never said otherwise. I wouldn't recommend anyone buy the 2026 Mint or Proof sets for long term appreciation. Even if they hold their value, they won't increase their value (IMHO). Now that would be a big move, adding a $2.50 coin to the sets, it's not like they cannot afford to with the price increase already in affect. Hopefully, Paul Hollis will have some input on it, he would see the wisdom in that move.

Right. I guess my point was that you recognized the possibility of the price crashing based on fresh inventory hitting the market. So you took a small shot and got out as fast as you could.
And I'm just surprised you see an opportunity with this. Last year's was released at $33.25, before people knew for sure cent production would be stopped, and before people knew for sure that it would be continued for the annual sets.
So people who missed out at $33.25 chased them. These might be a flip at $124.50, but that's far from certain, given the price, given the fact that it's pretty clear the Mint is trying to milk a market, and given that no year is going to be the last year for the time being. 190K P and D zinc cents at basically $50 each is not a tiny mintage and no bargain.
So I'm just surprised that the guy who recognized the hot potato that was the 2025 silver proof set sees a flip in $124.50 uncirculated sets that have a higher mintage and no silver in them. You very well might turn out to be right. Doesn't mean I can't be surprised, or that my observation is a "tangent," given we are talking overpriced current edition Mint sets.
The mint is a casino and this is a gamble until we know the mintage and the set contents. But I don't see why anyone would bail out now before knowing what the casino plans to offer for the price they are asking. It may not be the set everyone seems to think it is. They might have a special coin that could be added that makes it more than just the Lincoln cent. The others are also special 250th anniversary coins. Maybe they add an Omega sign to one of them.

I wouldn't be surprised. The 1996-W Roosevelt dime is a NCLT mint set issue, there were nearly a million and a half made and they're selling for $10 and up right now. I bet there are more people who collect Lincoln cents than Roosevelt dimes and the 2026 Lincoln mintage is about 12% of the 1996 Roosevelt mintage.

Just don’t end the discussions, I’ve done well listening to both of you. I appreciate the time you take to make your points.
You're getting a little ahead of yourself. The bill passed the House and now needs to be passed by the Senate before it heads to the White House.
I agree .......
Sheeeesh , I read this on the internet...... It's gotta be true ?
lol
Just read your own post. You mentioned both BANKS and CIRCULATION. Neither can or will effect the price of the Mint sets [THE TOPIC OF THIS THREAD] because of the Lincoln cent.
Were you just trying to increase your post count? It's okay. We love you anyway.
