I have an Unc wht metal holed at top for suspension specimen. A rare political medallet listed in DeWitt, which is where I acquired it. Your electrotype is still valuable and appealing.. Note the slight depression at 12 oclock where the electro was copied after a holed wm specimen.

These electrotypes were made for collectors a century ++ ago when political tokens were quite the rage in old numismatic auction catalogues of 1860-90. That collector interest is fast returning due to affordability, challenge in finding and charming, educational auctions by the Heritage political / historical department. StacksBowers too is starting to place such better pieces in their online auctions.

. Thank you very much. I owned one years ago. But actually like the looks of this one.
I’m going to send it in to PCI and add it to my collection.

Thanks but I already have 40-50 slabbed with PCI. Reason being I do enjoy the writing on the slab.

I have owned this example for over 25 years. I bought it in a Joe Livine auction. I posted a fairly high bid for the time; the sale took it to the limit. Livine apologized to me that it went so high.

Prior to when I acquired this piece, They were available at New England coin shows for about $175. Then the market dried up, and I have not seen any all. I didn't look for it in the DeWitt sales because I already had one.

It's good to see you posting again @coinsarefun!

Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

That is one choice 1792 Birch cent electro, crisp, not “ pebbly “ and no or extr minimal underlying lead showing thru. It is definitely a multi- 4 figure piece. The finest electro Birch cent sold in a 2019 Heritage Weinberg colln sale for over $13,000 ! Birch coppers - genuine or quality electrotypes -
are truly “ opportunity only “ items. I know.
