I’ll start with this one:
The slab incorrectly indicates it’s the “head of 1838” Actually, it’s the “silly head”. See differences below:

A couple of my favorite coins are 1839's.

1839 with drapery, PCGS AU55

I’m super envious of your 1839 seated halves, Ken.

This 1839/6 is pretty rare - only one MS I’m aware of & that’s in the High Desert collection. Mine’s much more modest:

One of my favorite coins ever posted on the forum.
I haven't been fortunate enough to put my camera in front of the quarter, Gobrecht dollar, or any of the gold pieces. I agree that it was a good transitional year for U.S. coinage overall.

So, PCGS book value for a complete set in XF40 is 85k+. Most of that is obviously the branch mint gold.
That doesn't include the 39/6 cent (8k), small letters half (140k), or Gobrecht dollar (27k).
I have the O dime and half dime plus the 39o half I’ll look for pics

When I learned about all the different 1839 cents I went digging through my bag of rough large cents to see if I had any. Had 2! Bought the other 2 cheaply on eBay, skipped the /6 above due to price but 4 out of 5 ain't bad.
I like the graffiti on that one

This was not struck in 1839, but the first ones were.
I have more 1839 coins than I thought.
@BillJones: that’s a great group Bill! Same with me, I didn’t realize I had as many as it turned out to be when I started the thread!

Oops!
I forgot one. This is a minor type coin.
You can always count on @BillJones for some outstanding coins.
Here is my ugly example. Needed it for my ANACS photo cert type set. With my unique type set, you have to take what you can find.
I love this year for all the reasons that @Copperindian mentions. So many one-year types and inaugural issues, including the first real branch mint half dollar (I don't count the 38-O lol) and the inaugural (and one-year type) liberty half eagle.
Holy Crap!
How did I miss this thread?!! ...and WOW!! some pretty tough acts to follow!! @Copperindian and @BillJones especially... Here's a lightly circulated example of a Booby Head Cent:

and here's the page with all the 1839 LC's in the album:
