I would work on a type set, but only of key-date coins. 1916 SLQ, small eagle half dollar, etc. Some would be fabulously difficult to find (1876-CC 20c) and it would be a lifetime project, but it would be a screaming cool set.
Just the gold series would be immensely difficult and expensive to assemble, and no, I wouldn’t chase coins with surviving pops under 10 or so.
I’d stop at 1964 too. Already “been there, done that”. Had my fun with moderns.
Of course this would require a WINDFALL! - not just a windfall.
Depending on the amount of the windfall, & what other items needed addressing, these would be my first purchases, if I could find dimes I like without paying stupid money. There are others, but these would bring my FB set with major verities to 65FB or better.

I would stick to the coinage that’s red hot right now and seems to be appreciating relative to its scarcity: I’d target Early federal coinage, pioneer coinage, and eye appealing quality examples that do not show up often at all.

Yeah, the size of windfall would dictate things. I think if mine was sizable enough to use it for certain discretionary items I would probably look for…
Omega double eagle counterfeit
Ancient gold aurea
16 stars 1797 dime in good enough grade (probably xf or higher)
Some cheap bust dollars to crack out and fill out my 19th century type set
I guess I was a little bit "tongue in cheek" with my first response... now that I'm evaluating the status of my collection, I'd opt to complete a few sets with higher grade/ no problems coins...
Early Copper... 1787 Fugio Cent; all 3 1793's in F to VF; finish Liberty Cap Varieties in VF (still need a 1795 LE); ditto Draped Bust; replace my Classic Head LC's with all VF coins; upgrade my 1821 and 1823 cents...
...then onto my Type Set and Box of 20...
Collecting: Dansco 7070; Middle Date Large Cents (VF-AU); Box of 20;
Depends on the size of the "windfall", and of course whatever other more pressing matters needed that cash. But if what was left for coin purchases was in the "several thousands" range, then high-grade-nicely-colored matte proof Lincolns. If it was several times that, then definitely US Paterns. But if it was elonbezos type money, then I'd hire reps to go to major auctions to compete for the stuff that gets full pages in the Red Book ;-)
If I won a billion dollar lottery, I'd love to buy a few old bags of double eagles from a European bank that have been sitting in their vaults since the turn of the last century. I'm assuming such a thing still exists.

For me, two of my favorite coins of all time would have to be the 1870-S $3.00 gold and the 1822 $5.00 gold and maybe the Judd-1776 pattern as well. It would have to be one heck of a windfall to even try and pry those pieces from their current owners though.

A lot of them would be dated starting with numbers like 179, 180 and 181, for sure.

That was my question, too. How big a windfall?
In US coins, I'd probably pick this one I actually got to hold at FUN the other day (PCGS MS63).
In World and Ancient, I reckon this Otho aureus would be pretty dandy.
(Pic borrowed from the Tyrant Collection- not sure why the top and bottom are cropped off)
This one is from the Boscoreale Hoard found in Pompeii in 1895. The toning is from the heat of the volcanic ash it got buried in!
Collector since 1976. On the CU forums here since 2001.
It wouldn't stop me from buying this gem. I'm an idiot for rare DMs.
A PCGS/CAC 1916 SLQ in MS66FH or MS67FH.
