Selling half-cents...consign to great dealer or send to greatcollections?
I don't care to sell them myself, so not thinking BST nor ebay.
I haven't paid attention to market in last 5+ years.
If consigned to dealer who knows coins in that category pretty well (I think) but isn't a EAC-only dealer, price can be set and buyer may be found eventually.
If sent to GC, then more likely to sell quicker but may not realize the same price (or may realize higher price if 2 or more people REALLY want it).
Coins are all PCGS and most grade AU58, though the earlier years are between VF-AU
Which could you do and why?
Again, those are really the only 2 choices right now that I am thinking, so pushing for a 3rd solution isn't really helping.
If you had a preference on a dealer to consign with, open to hearing that as well.

GC is my go to for selling coins.
GC. They'll be gone quickly and there's no hassle.
gc gets eyeballs
GC has a great bidder base at this point.
I'm very pleased with their service and low selling fees.
I can see this is bothering you. Stress is not a good thing. Just remove the burden, mail them to me and I will make sure they never bother you again...
If I can't help out, I can't argue with the above opinions.
I'd hate to just transfer my stress and the burden I carry to such a great forum member though...

Consigned a great coin at 2025 FUN, just picked it up again at 2026 FUN - GC is a better way to go, considering time value of money, less hassle to heirs, etc.
Send the coins to CAC first, then GC for the eyeballs.

IF they are common date and variety, GC. If you have an advanced set with rarities, Stacks Bowers.
GC. Have them evaluate the consignment for CAC stickering.
Hopefully someone here can identify a good dealer for your consideration/consultation.
Forgot to add...most are already CACed (green)

In that case, send them my way. Think of it as bonus harassment sent my direction until we run into each other at a show!
GC has been getting great prices for many series that I collect and it is less expensive and quicker with great communication. I've bought and sold many coins through GC and always been happy with the experience and results. And CAC'd items really bring great returns.
Half cents?
They are one of the lesser collected, which is why I was wondering...

it depends how quickly you need the money. If you need the cash quickly, then GC otherwise, i would suggest giving them to a trusted dealer. The trusted dealer might get more money but it requires patience. Just my 2 cents.
I've bought several half cents on GC and they market pretty extensively in my experience. All of my uncommon sales went for more than I expected over the past few years. And yeah, really like the feeling when I send them a package to sell, I can just forget about it and receive a check soon after the auction. They seem good at splitting up items between auction to maximize sales prices.

From GC's auction archive of Half Cents.....pretty good track record of listings.

Id go with GC, sending a box over there in the am.
the 58's should garner strong intrest.
if net graded coins, I would be reluctant
Don't need it quickly. I have more than enough to pay the bills but just want to move on from certain parts of collecting as my son isn't that interested in these.

I’d probably lean GC as well, unless there were some very rare pieces. I’d also dribble them out over time, vs all at one time.
Good luck,
Dave
Lots of AU58 coins in PCGS holders with many having CAC stickers means these are relatively super liquid. My suggestion is that if you want this done fairly quickly with little to no hassle or aggravation and you don't care to micro-manage the last dollar on the table that GC is the better avenue for the liquidation. Good luck.
In honor of the memory of Cpl. Michael E. Thompson
gc deals with rare pieces too

I agree with @TomB and was going to write something very similar.
I wouldn't rule out HA either, especially if you can work the vig' in your favor, but with many being CAC, they will get the necessary eyeballs in either place (my opinion and experiance).
I would discuss with GC splitting the consignment into a least two parts, with each at least two weeks apart. Put half the early's and half the CAC's in each sale if you just split in two. I think this will help your final net.

Have GC send them to CAC and then auction them
Don't know why you wouldn't start here with the BST rather than spend money on fee's but that is your choice

Yes good to bring it up, but it is their baseline default, look at how long they split up the recent big collections like Terry's Toners. I would spend some time going through the GC Auction achieve for each type and grade range along with the CAC approved tab clicked to see recent prices to give you an idea where they are now. https://www.greatcollections.com/Auction-Archive/US-Coin-Prices/2/Half-CentsLarge-Cents/4/Liberty-Cap-Half-Cents?af_c_sorthigh=false&af_c_sortdate=true&af_c_pcgs=true&af_c_cacg=true&af_c_ngc=true&af_c_pmg=false&af_c_anacs=false&af_c_legacy=false&af_c_other=false&af_c_plus=false&af_c_nonplus=false&af_c_cac=true&af_c_noncac=false&af_c_ungraded=true&af_c_busi_strike=true&af_c_spec_proof=false&af_s_yearfrom=&af_s_yearto=&af_s_keywords=&af_gd_min=40&af_gd_max=70
OP mentioned most are already beaned.
I had two circulated proof-only half cents I consigned to GC. One wasn't a great coin and it brought what I thought it should. The second one, although it was only a Proof-12, was a nice coin, and it brought $500 more than I expected.
Since your half cents are mostly AU and mostly CAC, I would recommend GC.
An authorized PCGS dealer, and a contributor to the Red Book.
I've got 25 or so at GC now. Ian and crew doing great jobs.
*Be sure to have them attributed if not already done so, big difference in selling.

I didn't see that post, but he did say Most are CACed so for the ones that are not they should be sent in and tried for the CAC sticker

Overall I’ve done well with selling through GC. But keep in mind that less popular series like half cents and gold dollars may underperform even with CAC. This is likely due to being a) less popular, b) the mix of buyers at the time the auction shows up, 3) chaos theory. I have had superb results on some foreign coins and Philippine coins but very subpar results for gold dollars that are all PCGS and many CAC.
I would consign to local dealer I know.
Would the gun dealer have a blowout sale?
And does he consign guns to big coin dealers he knows?
My time is valuable to me and I like simple, hassle-free. GC or HA or Stacks, depending on the set.
