Timing is everything when CRO sends out the early bird email. I was very lucky to be available and grabbed this fast. As many of you know, things do not last long at CRO.
It is not a Gold CAC commem this time so that should be a relief to those commem collectors out there ![]()

MS63 is a crazy grade for that coin and is multiple grades too low. Very nice. I like it. Very clean cheek.
Really nice pick-up! 66+ material ?
You've got the "Belly-Button" variety. That may have played a part in the grading room at the time?

That's a cool and welcome sight
Thanks for that info @Rc5280 I had not checked the VAM page yet but that name really makes sense.

That coin is nicer than both the 64+ and 65 I have that are both beaned. Well done!
Thanks @johnny9434 and @MEJ7070
When I saw John post it I just needed to find my phone so I could call him asap.

Coin rarities online is the company. John agre runs it and is good to werc with. They is online and the sorts 😉
Thank you! Cheers, karl
@johnny9434 If you keep sharing that info it's going to be even harder to get beautiful coins from @CoinRaritiesOnline
But that's ok. It's a great team to build a collection with.

Ohhhh, gotcha, I'll be more careful about that 😉
Very nice, easy 64.
What happened with the graders on this one? What reasoning were they using to call it an "MS63"? Not strong enough strike, hits on the rim?
@logger7 Well it was November of 1987. That is the only month they used this slab and why only about 300 total coins are known to exist. People say life was harder back then. Maybe the graders took it out on the coin.

That's not logical. The eagle has an indentation on the breast; rim hits.
Stricter grading and the reverse weak strike, plus may not have known that was a Mint issue with the belly button and thought PMD.
Cat’s outta the bag now-thanks!

It is interesting that this coin was graded just a few weeks after the largest Stock Market decline in history. We have never come close to the 22.6% drop in October of 1987. Those were dark times for sure.
Sorry for an attempt at a little humor in an earlier post. It is Friday and the weekend is near. I was just having a little fun.

Yes and no, I think of the 80's as a very good time overall when most people were doing well and the county did not feel as divided as it does today. Of course I was much younger then, had no money in the market and in general a very positive outlook. I think I still have a positive outlook but a bit more cynical today vs then.
That is a beautiful Morgan, congrats on adding that to your collection.

Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
Thanks @coinbuf
Yes, the 80's were great and I listen to that music on Sirius XM every day. I was mainly referring to the crash and what it caused at the time.

For me, the history of the coin is as important as the coin. To know almost exactly when this coin was slabbed is cool.
