How many coin shows did you attend in 2025?

goldengolden Posts: 10,398 ✭✭✭✭✭

For the last several years I have been to about 11 shows each year. This year I only went to 7 shows including the FUN, CSNS and both ANA shows. My want list has gotten smaller the last few years. The chances of me finding coins that I need at small shows is very slim. I have decided to only go to the bigger shows. That saves wear and tear on the car and me. I will probably go to even fewer show in 2026. How many coin shows did you attend in 2025?

FUN, and two small regional shows. I would go to more - but I travel too much.

Tucson International and WFoM in OKC (for about 2 hours before I had to go).
Hoping to hit Tucson again this year, or El Paso, but neither is a slam dunk.
Tucson is the same day as homecoming for my daughter again this year, so odds are stacked against me.
There’s always a slim chance I could make Albuquerque, but it’s a longer drive and we don’t have family up there anymore.

USMex and Winter Baltimore Whitman and a few small, local shows.

PCGS Irvine and two or three 20-30 table local shows which are pretty close to the house. I didn’t buy much but had a good time socializing.

Two - Winter and Summer FUN.

Virtually all of my coin buying is accomplished on the internet:

    1. Via a variety of coin dealers.
    2. Auction - GC, Heritage, Stacks and DLRC.
    3. eBay (Make an offer, Buy it Now, and auction).

1— FUN show in Orlando. Going there again in less than two weeks!😉

  • BillJonesBillJones Posts: 35,653 ✭✭✭✭✭

I attended only six. There were the two FUN shows and a couple Lakeland shows which a little bigger than local shows. I only went to a couple local shows.

Getting to those can be a hassle given the traffic down here. They can also be disappointing. There are a couple local dealers who have an interesting selections. Most of the others have mostly Morgan, modern stuff and bullion which is of little interest for me. Given the high price gold, one local show I attended offered virtually none of it.

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

I’ve been to 8 smaller local shows this past year and the annual Rochester Numismatic Association show in November. Picked up quite a number of early classic Commems and type coins.

I think only 2 this year. I'm pivoting away from coins for a while again back to photography. Although I'll probably get back eventually :) I'm going to be going to a local show soon to get some album hole fillers at hopefully some lower prices.

Like @golden I used to average about 10-12 a year. Last year with Long Beach shutting down and my wife breaking her heel in August, I believe I only did, let’s see, FUN, Long Beach, ANA, EAC, and the August ANA. Yup. Think that was it. I cancelled GACS and November Baltimore to care for my wife. The rest just fizzled.
