Whats your favorite silver coins ?

I know theres a run on ASE's but do they deserve the tile "favorite" or most "beautiful"?

To some people most likely yes. But I'm an American that likes to moon over other silver coinage, not really numismatic, but regular silver coins whose design I find "catching". For instance I love Philharmonics even if theres a premium on ASE's. I just like the design. I'm very fond of Britannias and Queens Beasts. I know its silly but when I look at a Britannia I see a time when Britain ruled the waves and the age of pre-World War Empire.

I'm very fond of Maples too. I just like the design and having 'Liz on the back just makes them all the better. The kookaburra in its satin capsule is a beauty as well. But my absolute favorite silver coin if the Mexican Libertad. I believe this is a stunning coin from the worlds #1 silver producer and Ive probably paid to much for low mint years of them in very good condition just because I like looking at them. Morgans the same when in good condition. I find them fascinating.

I finally bought some Pandas. My intent was to give them away as gifts but I figured the little kids would rather have cash. This is tho I despise the CCP but I did buy a few and they are lovely coins. The Perth mint makes some terrific coinage in their snake and dragon series of coins that I couldnt help but buy a few. The Lunar series is very impressive. I love artisan coins even tho I can only afford a few due to the premiums. Like the Spectres series I ended up paying $289 for. https://spectres.io/collections/new-releases/products/guan-yu-green-dragon-crescent-blade .It was a 2 oz coin I just had to have. My wife is an artist and my mantle collection floats her boat.

So while ASE's make up majority of my stack I can't say they are my favorite coin. There are many I like more even if they are worth less. It was always my intent to have a diversified stack with a diversified artistic flair, premiums be damned.

Start looking at large silver that is 200-300 years old B)

I like silver commemoratives for the designs (i.e., National Park Foundation Saint-Gaudens series).

Morgans are of course very nice; the problem is you never know when they might turn/tone and you paid a stiff premium to silver.

When I was living in Spokane in the 90's, a LCS had a 1200+ oz silver bar from the Atocha shipwreck. It was under $10K - silver was under $4/oz. If older me could only send a message to 25 year old me...

Britannia's are nice and their Mint changes the designs often..

I still love them but I must say the 2025 low mintage debacle has me disappointed. Up to this point I had a full set and now they have created a hole unless I want to spend $5,000 to fill it :# no thanks!

If I had to choose one it would be the Britannia by far, any year

Maples and Libertads are probably my favorite coin designs. I also got hooked on the Legendary Warriors rounds.

90% Junk / US Constitutional, whatever you want to call it is the greatest fractional PM there is. It's future is bright. Especially knowing the melting goes on!

Why do that when you can wait a bit and buy them all back when the gutter returns to the $20's? :sunglasses: RGDS!

Because it’s having a hard enough time getting to the $60s.

The discount on 90% isn't likely to get any larger so the only remaining possibility is for the premiums to start coming back.

And they will, thus TwoSides2aCoin couldn't be more on target.

I completely agree! Not sure how I’ll handle that…

One option, for me anyway, is to do 1982 until 2000… Then I’ll have all the types covered and the earlier ones and I could stop there, but truthfully I’d love to have them all… But 2025 is a bit of a problem.

I completely lucked out finding the 1991 type two a few years ago managing to get it into a 69 holder that’s basically $2,000 to $3000 coin and virtually have nothing in it!

I’d love to somehow luck out on a 2025 similar but I’m not holding my breath 😆
