Just like having to chose what state quarter or which presidential dollar to choose for our sets, which 2026 Semiquincentennial quarter do you think you'll choose?

    When I saw your title, I was thinking 7070. There are just so many modern day types, I just can't get my mind wrapped around them nowadays. They mint these coin today like the post office prints stamps!

    You can't make a 7070 big enough for all these modern types.

    They should start distinguishing between "definitive" and "commemorative" as they do in stamps.

    Have an album with just definitives.

    Good question. The obverse differences between the quarters are significant enough to include them all in my type set. That and a more manageable number to deal with. Agree that the pilgrim is best if one example is used.

    My type set includes 1 of every design, even quarters. I’ll have to get them all. At least I set an end date on my type set which is 2026. It makes an interesting end to the set and thankfully nothing needed from 2027 onward.

    Even making a custom page (for some modern types) with a blank DANSCO page for the back of my 7070, didn't help much!

    I will buy a silver Proof set. If it’s in there, I will have one. If it’s not, I’ll do without.

    For years I went out of my way to keep a 100% complete type set on the NGC registry, from the half cent, though the gold to the “old commemoratives.” Then the grading fees went up, and it’s impossible to buy new certified coins in PR-69 for reasonable sums. The Washington Crossing the Delaware quarter is impossible to find for less than $75. The later ones are the same, Nobody offers them.

    Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

    I'd probably just throw a 1932-1964 WQ design in the slot instead of one of those.

    The mint is doing all it can to destroy interest in collecting coins and upping the interest speculation. If you think I’m nuts, look at what the Post Office Department did stamp collecting. They issued too much stuff, and collectors pulled the plug.

    Interestingly, and what is not common knowledge, the 1932 Washington quarter was considered a commemorative until the mint continued to produce them again in 1934.

    The Liberty Standing design did not go the required 25 years.
