Baltimore got 100% screwed, Likely catches the ball and plants both feet then after about 2 seconds later the ball gets punched out in the end zone and they say it wasn't a catch

Pure criminal behavior, one of the worst calls I've seen in a long time

please get me the hell out of 2025 and take me back to a time where the ball in a receivers hands and two feet down constituted a legal catch

is almost getting THREE feet down not tantamount to a "football move" ?

what in the actual f is a catch

I have $100 that says McCarthy isn’t a starter anywhere in 2026. Any takers?

    I'll take that bet!

Today's game showed that he can look good with a healthy offensive line against a poor defense, at home.

I thought he would do well. Perfect game for him right now. Next, he has to play better against a good defense. Progress, not perfection.

Easy game for Kevin O'Connell too. He didn't have to make any hard decisions and he ran the ball more and had some easier pass plays called.

The catch stuff makes no sense. If youre running the ball just needs to basically tough the goal line but if youre catching it you cant ever have it move even in the endzone when you clearly caught it

At least have consistency with the two rules

I don’t know about an era but the season was already over before tonight. I quit gambling but if forced to I would have even bet on the Texans.
But at least the defense didn’t give up without a fight. Loss goes to the offense.
So Brady and the Pats had a 20 year dynasty but went 10 years without a SB win, yet it’s the end of an era for the Chiefs? 😂

KC was painful to watch last night. I am not ready to write off the dynasty, but I wouldnt be surprised if this is the end.

Veach has done a great job of holding the team together with salary restructures, but there is only so far he can kick the can down the road. KC has a lot of holes in that team, and i cannot see a path forward as to how they fill them in the off season. Mahomes cap hit for next season will be $78MM. Chris Jones will be $44MM. $122MM wrapped up in just 2 players when I believe the the expected cap will be around $300-$310 MM. with the current roster, they are already between $42MM and $60MM over next years cap.

Not only can i not see how they will improve the current roster, they will need to cut current players just to get under the cap and sign their 2026 draft picks.

That makes next year look worse than this year. you are looking at roster rebuild and then Patrick is in his age 32, 33, 34 years. for a QB who relys on scrambling and plays breaking down the outlook seems bleak.

at least that is how i see it right now.

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

  • craig44craig44 Posts: 12,189 ✭✭✭✭✭

At this point, is it wiser for KC to tank the last 4 games? No sense risking Mahomes when he is already dealing with a knee. improve draft position. the worst place to find yourself in the NFL is just missing the playoffs. middle of the pack draft position and middle of the pack strength of schedule, as opposed to if they were to be bottom level.

Honestly I am not sure it matters too much with the cap situation they will be dealing with next season. Still no reason to risk Mahomes if the season is lost.

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

@craig44 said: as opposed to if they were to be bottom level.

That's the interesting thing about watching this unfold, KC is trying, and trying hard to win these games and they are moving to the basement anyway. When the season ends we'll see some players retire and some players opt to sign elsewhere. That's the nature of pro-sports. The nature of the Ad-Game is to move away from a loser and grab ahold of a winner. State Farm has dumped Mahomes and moved on to Aidan Hutchinson!!! That really cracks me up.

That is funny about Hutchinson taking over state farm, I assume there will be another change once Detroit goes back to being irrelevant again

KC is just not a good football team this year, they will hang around and play spoiler then reload in the off season, they will be back

  • MaywoodMaywood Posts: 3,497 ✭✭✭✭✭

@perkdog said: they will be back

I believe that, too. Specifically, I believe Patrick Mahomes will be back. He is too talented and too much of a competitor to not respond to this. I'm nobody who knows anything, but it just seems like he lost his edge. The games that KC is losing this season are games they won in the past. Just looking at yesterday and the 3-Int's, only one of them was a bad pass. The other two were "tip drills" that should have been caught and the defense almost always wins those.

How successful KC is next season will depend on who stays and who leaves. Also, for the first time in awhile we get to see what Andy Reid does with an early pick.

something is up with Mahomes. I am not sure what. He has not led the league in a statistical category since 2022. I was listening to a podcast recently and one of the guys was wondering if Pat is regressing the same way Russel wilson did?

The problem with retooling, is that I just cannot see how KC can do it? they will be in cap hell next season. already WAY over and this year isnt even over yet. over the cap has them in the second to last place for next season.

as it sits, they are middle of the pack for the draft. number 14.

I think they really need to lose out and potentially get into the top 10 in the draft. They cannot fix this through free agency, it has to be through the draft and that will be a 2-3 year process. better to start now before Mahomes gets older. next year will be his age 31 season and the team outlook is bleak

I wouldn't write off PM for the rest of his career........that's rather crazy considering he's only 30 years old. but that team needs to be revamped. i don't care how great you are, if you don't have a running game and therefore don't have balance, you'll be forced to be superman each and every week. and as of this moment, PM isn't wearing a cape. he doesn't look like the same player. C.J. Stroud looked more like Mahomes than Mahomes looked like Mahomes last night. but it's not entirely his fault. his receiving corps flat-out sucked last night. multiple guys acting like they had never caught a football in their lives before.

and as great as the defense was in the second half, they contributed to the outcome. the play of the game took place in the 4th Q when the momentum had completely shifted and the score was tied at 10. KC had Houston on their heels. the Texans had 3rd & 17 inside their own 10. KC holds them there and they probably end up with at least 3, take the lead, and change the complexion of the rest of the game. instead, they gave up a pass play for 17 1/2 yards and allowed Houston to flip the field. the Chiefs never scored again.

Mahomes isn't the same player, but the Chiefs are also not even remotely the same team

I’m baffled by Reid going for it 4 and 2 from their own 30. Houston offense had managed-2 yards in the second half to that point. Baffling is an understatement

Reid going for it on 4 and 2 on their own 31 yard line was coaching malpractice. especially with the way their defense was playing.

I don't know about that math.

    4th & 2 conversion percentage is around 60%.

Red Zone TD percentage is also around 60% and if you give the ball up on your own 30 yard line you're giving away 5.1 points on average based on TD and FG conversion rates from that distance out.

Teams starting at their own 35 yard line on 1st down score an average of 1.5 points.

Someone should check the calculator on that one. The answer on mine was 8008135.

McCarthy looked good against a lousy Commanders defense. I thought he would play well, but was worried if he didn't, the haters would have a point.

Coach O'Connell actually gave up on the deep ball and utilized his tight ends for a change. JJ was able to get the passes of quickly instead of trying to force balls downfield.

Dallas is next. Their defense doesn't look too good either. Then the lowly Giants. Looks promising for the rookie! The Lions defense isn't playing that well this year, so it's not until the final week of the season that we play a team with a top defense in the Packers.

Can McCarthy stay healthy the rest of the way?

    GO JJ!

Since the Vikings aren't making the playoffs, I'm hoping for a high draft pick next year with a couple extras coming in compensation for losing Darnold and Jones. Hoping JJ develops and the Vikings................I can't bring myself to say it.
