My newest acquisition, 1974 OPC Hank Aaron. Not the sharpest card you'll ever see but acceptable to me.

Nice cards. It looks like the graders are getting very firm on what separates a vintage 6 from a 7.

Was hoping for one more grade higher on the Reggie at least, it is really sharp. Grading is indeed tight.

Looking at the hi-res pics from PSA, the Banks and Santo could be 6s, and the Marichal could squeak out a 7.
The others seem accurate to me. I don't think the Reggie gets an 8 with that upper left corner. IMO
    Nice cards.

You should have sent them to 4SC and have them submit the cards to PSA. You would have a bunch of PSA 8's instead.

@Yankees70 You're dunking on a long time member and veteran collector. I'm pretty sure he knows what's what.

I get it and appreciate your thoughts. I rarely complain about grades and I'm very happy with these cards. Thank you

Hmmm. I see it as more contrived bitterness towards a grading company that doesn’t treat its submitters equally. But that’s just me.

It all evens out. Here's a new grade (PSA 7) I would have given a VG-EX to.

My first thought was... guy has 98.7% positive feedback so it must be a scam. but nope. that's the card. https://www.psacard.com/cert/122265182/psa

Others from the above group I just got back. Banks 5 was a bit of a shock and 62's with the tough borders on Santo, thought it was more than a 5.

man grading is getting really difficult now. great cards!! reggie jackson was really nice.

Thanks Big Guy you won me $50. I gave my buddy 3-1 odds that you would reply to my comment about 4SC (Meaning if you did not make a comment I would have owed him $150). You never fail to deliver. He made a sucker bet as the real odds should have been 10-1. I will put the money towards a 79 PSA 9 Fisk as that's one of the few 79 PSA 9 hall of famers that I still need.

Not sure if I should pull the trigger on this one. Maybe waiting for a better one is the way to go.

I think the most valuable moment of this thread is having an obsessive gambler explain betting to me.

If you have a problem with gambling you should get some help. Moderation is the key to life. Gamble occasionally and never bet more than you can afford to lose.

Good luck. I'm rooting for you.

I don’t gamble, it’s not my problem. Self awareness is a gift.

Good luck. I’m rooting for you.

Nice but for the money involved MBA could at least not have put the sticker on crooked. Not at shot at you PopSmoke99 , merely a point out that for all the money they took from you they still performed their work in a slipshod manner.

Added this nice OPC Frank Robinson. Highest graded. Pop 18 and no 9's or 10's.

Only 1 Topps PSA 10 , fans of 75 Frank (OPC or Topps) need to set lower expectations.

Nice! That makes at least 2 of us!

Score sets, particularly 1990 to 1992 hold a special place in my heart, getting them as a birthday gift as a young collector. Those sets, particularly 1991 and 1992 were massive!

Page 19 in my rookie showcase I linked in my post above has 6 of the big 1988 score rookie cards. Kelly, Glavine, Gant, Sabo, Anderson and Biggio. The R?T set is limited to 3,000, diamond in the rough.

Wow. I wonder if kurts card care can get the tape residue off

This Leaf Ruth is an interesting case with respect to the MBA sticker. I don’t think it’s a slam dunk that a consensus of collectors would view a card with that kind of tape issue as a premium example of any grade. I think some would and some wouldn’t. It just underscores that the sticker really only represents one guy’s opinion.

The large area of tape residue is where the eyes are drawn.

Not knocking the card or grade but the Diamond sticker seems like an Oprah effect to me
