I really like the Franklin half dollars. To me they have a clean but a raw look about them that really appealed to me. I wish they could have made the full 30 year run to see where they went with them. This is a set of 1955's I put together.

Added a few old holders recently. Appears that 1946-D is my coin to find.

Wouldn’t it be cool to have a complete set of halves from 1916 to 1963?? 😉. I can’t help it, as my brain is always coming up with these crazy ideas!

Maybe not for everyone, but I like the original mint set toning.

This is one of my favorites currently, I rescued the coin from a melt bin.

Here is my favorite half dollar in my collection. It is hard to find a 1795 Flowing Hair with all of this design detail left on it. I looked for years for one I could swing financially. It's graded AU-58, and as an added bonus, it's the finest known of a very rare Overton variety with less than 20 known by a wide margin. The second best one is graded EF sharpness, cleaned.

Fortunately for me, this coin flunked at CAC. If it hadn't, I could not have afforded it. It was once in an NGC MS-62 holder!

Here is a 1796 half dollar. This is type which stops many type collectors from completing their sets. I passed on one many years ago that was holed and polished and priced at $9,000. I don't buy stuff like that, especially for that kind of money. I would rather do without. This one is graded Fine-15. I would have liked a VF, but you have to with what's available. It's the lowest grade type coin in my set.

I bought this one at an auction that was held by Paramount Auctions in New York City. It was held in conjunction with a Grand Central Coin Convention. It's got loads of luster, but is the usual strike for an 1806 half dollar.

This one covers the John Reich slot in my collection.

And I found this one at a Lakeland, Florida coin show. It's really nice for a Mint State Bust Half Dollar. You never know what you might find at a medium sized show.
