Looks like a Vermont copper. Not sure of the date or variety. Hopefully a specialist can help.

Vermont copper, kind of rough but the variety may be identifiable. OK, Quick edit. The best I can do is I think, it might be a 1788 RR-16, everything I see matches, but unfortunately there is a lot I can't make out.
Thanks Folks, cant see date at all
Thats what was throwing me off, the head design because of wear and corrosion, looked more like a backward serpent new jersey horse type design than a bust figure

Nevermind, after looking further, that isn't it.

Probably a 1787 or 1788 Bust Right.
Can you see in hand if it's a 1787 or 1788?
@ambro51 knows these by die variety and might be able to ID it.
Flatten your staples 😧
Head style and orientation makes it look like the common RR-16 to me, but agree that it’s kind of hard to make out. This is my 16, for comparison.
