I had a conversation with this guy. He insisted it's worth that and will be worth 10 times as much next year for the 50th anniversary. I didn't know if he was talking about the 50th anniversary of the minting of the quarter or maybe the 250th anniversary of the country. In the end I offered to sell him a full roll of BU Bicentennial quarters for what he was asking that single coin. Got no response.
EBay has no controls whatsoever. They dont want any sort of feedback, because it eats into their commissions. What they dont realize is this is the end of trust in their marketplace. The people placing the auctions must be competitors trying (and succeeding) in making them look like a place where you dont want to buy anything. Nothing is real.
I guess thats a good thing if you are Great Collections or one of the more reputable sites. Why Collectors Universe or PCGS even includes their auctions in its pricing algorithm is worrisome.

that's called a moon shot
it was done on a scanner
did anyone here try using ebay's zoom feature?
I did. Even with the pixelation, it appears to be corroded and not worth bidding on.
