Got blown out of the water on a few coins I was interested in pursuing from last night’s Heritage Toned US Coin auction.
Here are 2 that are now headed my way.
MS 66
MS 68 This upgrades my current silver eagle in my 7070 registry on both grade and eye appeal. I refuse to go the blast white 69 or 70 route, though ill always have love for the blast white commmunity as my grandfather arduently and hilariously despised all forms of “tarnish”. I also refuse to pay $500 for a silver eagle. Just not my thing. This one will do just fine Inthink/hope.

An upgrade for my bust dollar set
Wow what’s the grade on that one? 50?
It's a 40, CAC - replacing a VF-20. It does look nice, doesn't it?
My goodness. The reverse has a lot of detail for a 40. Very little wear on the breast and the motto looks full. I was thinking 45 and a shot at 50. Very nice.
The foam gasket insert was used back in the day to keep the coin from “rattling in the rattler”. I seldom see these anymore; I have another FE (1858 SL) that has this feature. Together they make a nice companion pair (& both are beaned MS64). I’ll have to update the pic of the obv slab. Regardless, it’s a nice original example with good eye appeal & no issues.
I’ll do a separate write up about this when I have time……but pretty excited about this one as it was the final coin I needed to “finish” my 7070 registry!
Pics are terrible but the coin is outstanding. I’ve looked at a LOT of Classic Head large cents in 2025 and this one had the combination of problem free original surfaces, detail, eye appeal, and somewhat earth-tethered asking price that I’ve been seeking.
Purchased yesterday in Baltimore during “Early Bird” time from the good folks at West Coast Coins. Really nice guys and a fantastic inventory!
Upgraded my type set in Baltimore with this pickup today.
Purchased this on Thursday from Robbie at The Reeded Edge. Was the 4th and final commem I needed for the CAC 7070 registry, which requires 4 (PCGS requires 2). Sorry for the screenshots. The forums don’t like CAC pics apparently….
And here’s an old Phil Arnold TV that I didn’t know existed for the 1814 Classic Head PCGS/CAC VF 35 that I also picked up Thursday. Much better representation than the iPhone shots I posted a couple days ago….
(Also posted this NEWP on the newish half dollar thread)
Years ago I made the giant mistake of selling a beautifully toned ‘02 DBH that I had purchased from JJ TeaParty, regretted that move ever since. Nice and affordable examples come up so infrequently, so while it’s not perfect and not the coin I foolishly sold, I recently picked this up… 1802 is one of my favorite dates, primarily because of the history of that era.
@Mark said: @PClark99 Nice coins! So you picked a Fairmont at your local flea market? Your market has much higher class fleas than my market... Good pickups!
Thanks!
Actually the flea market I go to is fairly shitty but on rare occasions there is a bullion dealer and a couple other guys that show up with some gold. Aside from that my flea circus isn’t that great.

Grabbed these two CAC Ratts at a local coin club show today. The only 2 CACed Rattlers at the show.

@Copperindian, great example Ken! One doesn't see these with the foam insert much anymore.

1882cc GSA MORGAN
I won this for $20.00 at the same auction as the GSA Morgan.. It was so ugly and in need of attention I couldn't walk away.
What’s the grade? Magnificent eye appeal, especially that reverse….
New addition to the Walker Slab set. Slow but sure getting there.
