Is this a 1927 D? Graded ms 64
Hello, I noticed the die markers, like the die crack in bert and through the “FIve” in 5 cents were the same and the polishing lines matched the one on the ms 62 one. I was trying to edit my post earlier made a mistake, sorry about that.
I added some more photos and it seems like there’s some leg there but it’s definitely fainter and more effaced, the die lines on the very back leg of the buff have the same lines as the ms 62 as well. Maybe an earlier die state? Or a stronger struck fs 901.

note the break on the forward leg at the hoof, then look at the hoof on the other forward leg. both are notched

Photos make all the difference. Had same issue with a 16D that was subsequently attributed by our host as the 3HL and have a pretty good track record with the variety. I'd submit if it was mine. Nice looking coin either way.

I see what you are seeing and am somewhat on the fence. What inclines me to ‘no’ is the fact that the back leg does not merge into the rim as much as the examples on CoinFacts. To me, that is one of the most obvious markers. I could be swayed otherwise but my gut tells me no.

Photos 1. 4, 5 and 8 make me say it has chance. It is a very nice coin otherwise. Will the graders agree? Cant say. As Dirty Harry said, Are you feeling lucky?

There are no 1927-D Buffs known with a full strike. 1927-D is one of the last "smeary" looking Buffs, with some as bad as the 25-D and 26-D coins.
Things got much better at Denver after the Mint started using chromium plated dies, and also with an improvement in stress hardening techniques there.
Still, problems did happen, as the 1934-D and 1935-D issues had problems.
I don't think your coin is a 3 1/2 llegger. It's more of a strike problem In my opinion.

The more I look at your coin the more I think it does have a chance at 64. Very clean and blemish free, no distracting bag marks and such.
