I adore many of the medallic, coinage and token issues of Canada, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Prince Edward Island. However, I don't own many pieces. We must have some cool things from members of this board. It might be nice to share images with one another.

To start, here is some circulated coinage I picked up at bullion a few years ago...

I'm 3 1/2 years late to this party, but I must say that's the nicest group of coins purchased at melt value from the Great White North! :o

Following @TomB's display of choice Canadian "bullion" coins, here are some inexpensive Canadian dollars and a Newfoundland half off of eBay.

A seller there a few years back was auctioning decent lots of 10 halves or 10 dollars that would close for about twice bullion value at that time (usually for about $20 to $22 for each dollar on average). They would add a better date or two to each lot like a 1938 or 1946 dollar to make them interesting. They were great lots for filling an album, if Dansco made such an album. I regret not purchasing more of those lots considering the high price of silver these days.

I like the '46 (my birth year) dollar. I even inlayed one into the top of one of the canoe paddles that I made a few years ago. They are all done with just a spoke shave and a 2" piece of cherry. I even made a couple canes and walking sticks that way, but my '46 paddle with the dollar inlaid is my special one.

Dansco does make a Canadian dollar album! Just hard to find and expensive when you do!

Do they make Canadian dollars and halves albums with unlabeled slots? I'd love to fill 4 or 5-page albums with nice Canadian silver dollars or silver halves.

I just love photos of coins like @TomB's collection of really nice, original "bullion" coins. They remind me of those special moments over 60 years ago as a child when my grandparents would pull out a small jewelry box with perhaps some cufflinks and tie clasp, and a dozen or so old coins they had saved from circulation or dug up in their garden through the years. I can still remember the conversations, the smell of their homes and texture of their furnishings. What was the story behind that large Brazilian counterstamped copper? Or the 1782 Mexican 1 real with a hole in it? Coins and photos of coins such as TomB's above evoke such strong memories of those special moments for me.

The album I have is just the dollar one. I suppose you could make your own dansco with a blank half dollar album. I have done the same thing with Canada quarters and dimes.

Congrats on obtaining a hard to find piece. These don’t come up very often. I know they weren't intended for circulation and the small mintage was more like a test piece.

Great coin @bosox I’d love to photograph that one someday.

I have one addition to the type set. Common coin. Common grade at 64. But certainly PL.

Thanks, TomB! The 1873 has a light blue tint to the darker toning in the fields that is not captured in these photos. Otherwise, the Trueviews turned out well.

That is a great coin Phil! I missed this one on Sunday but went down fighting. Closed much higher than I was willing to go. I thought it was a great cent too.

Latest pickup from Stacks. PE-4, Br-916. From the late Richard August collection. I knew Richard from the New England show circuit. He assembled a wonderful collection of colonial coins and tokens. Very happy with this purchase even if it is optimistically graded.

Don ... Can you please send me, (either on here or PM), a close-up of the T in Victoria, , the 2nd A in Canada, the neck truncation to the dot above the C, and the T in cent. There are some fairly scarce varieties of the '76, but few people look for them . To me, the T in Victoria is missing all or part of the serif, but that's normal. Also, it was good to see you yesterday, and I wish you could have showed me the coin in-hand.

    This thread needs some attention.
Here are some Canadian halves I've likely shown before, but this thread needs coin to viewer resuscitation. I like Canadian halves and dollars because one can purchase them at a reasonable price. These were under $30 except for the graded 1941 ($50) and graded 1943 ($160).

OK, I don't know if this will reproduce the pic from a US coin site, but I picked a beauty out of there. It's an 1881 Single serif N in VF-30 or a little better, but cleaned. From those of us who did the variety section of the 65th Charlton, we agreed that this is one of the 2 scarcest Vicky varieties around... less than 15 known and only 6 cert'd in ANY condition. I received it and it's definitely the rare one.

Oaky, this is neither a coin nor a proper medal from the RCM. However, it is a medal from Canada!

I fenced in the Canadian National Fencing Championships this past May in Ontario in both the Open (any age) and Veteran (age 40+) categories for Men's Epee. At the tournament I managed to win a second place medal in Veteran's Epee when I made it all the way to the championship bout, but lost in overtime. This image shows my exact medal as the photographer took the image while we were waiting to hear our names called to go to the podium to receive the medals. My medal is the silver one on the far right. The medals are fairly heavy and about two inches (five centimeters) in diameter.

Thanks to Mr. Eureka for helping me snag this one. NGC SP-65 BN. One of probably 6 known and out of the market since 1965. It was once in the A. H. Prince collection and was sold by Jim Charlton in the 1965 CNA Auction.

many years ago Papeldog (other forum) had one listed by mistake very early in the morning. I was only getting another coffee, early AM, and he had relised it and had his listing cancelled. that is how I remember it...it is too long ago.
