The league is looking into it.

Friday he as listed as a full participant. On Saturday he was ruled out for Sunday. Also on Saturday the Ravens got in their DeLorean and revised the Friday designation from full to limited.

I would rather see the Eagles - Giants game, but I’m stuck with the Atlanta - Miami game. As a Patriots fan, I dislike the little whales, but I should rooting for them because an Atlanta loss helps the beat-up Bucks. Mentally I am striving to be logical.

Since Cousins is the Atlanta quarterback, I might get my intellectual desires.

These are tough times for Baltimore sports. The Orioles were supposed to contenders but finished last, and now the Ravens are almost eliminated from the playoffs.

If the Browns aren't intentionally "dumping" then it is time for Kevin Stefanski et al to go.

I really enjoy football, but like most things when it is done poorly it becomes unwatchable. The Browns have become embarrassing. As the 4th quarter starts they have 142 total yards, Dillon Gabriel's stat line is 14/23/90/1/2. I would say all those who want to see Shedeur Sanders may soon have their wish. Something is clearly wrong with this once proud franchise which has slumped into disgrace. It bears no resemblance to the one I knew growing up and as a younger man. Something happened when Art Modell moved the Cleveland Browns to Baltimore.

Shame on you Jimmy Haslam, Andrew Berry and Kevin Stefanski.

I just saw four of the dumbest play calls by an offensive coordinator. The Tampa Bay Bucks are on half yard line. The stupid coordinator calls four runs into the middle of the line. FAILURE! Then the Bucks got an interception and a touchdown.

Watching Dallas and Denver, the announcers said that Denver has beat Dallas 8 straight games now going back to 1996. Dallas last beat Denver in 1995, the year Dallas last went to the Superbowl.

    I did not know this.

Denver smoked Dallas today to go to 6-2.

  • BillJonesBillJones Posts: 34,985 ✭✭✭✭✭

The Dallas defense is pathetic unless the team they are playing has an offensive which is pathetic.

Can you guys even imagine if Patrick Mahomes fumbled on a qb sneak and the ball went right into an opponents arms yet it wasnt called a fumble. Just speculating here I don’t think that would really happen.

Oh that happened today with Jalen Hurts on a tush push. He fumbled. It wasn’t called a fumble.now I’m sure there were several of you that have heard or even seen it. It wasn’t Mahomes or KC so we’ll just let that one slide. Not worth commenting on. Crickets. Completely objective and fair minded forum we have here.
Chiefs…. Pitchforks, torches, and a bad attitude. C’ mon boys were gonna get us a monster.
Eagles…. Well I’m going to go ahead and give the refs 35 more chances before I get too worked up.

there were so many horrific gaffes by that officiating crew that I didn't dare reference all of them

but when I made this post that particular play was at the forefront of my mind. and mind you, I had money on the Eagles. but I always call things like i see them, and each one of those refs should have been canned after that game. the officiating was so godawful that i almost turned it off

at one point i really thought Brian Daboll was going to go after one of those refs. he had a homicidal look on his face

Yeah the refs were horrible. But I’m completely serious, can you even imagine the uproar if it was KC benefitting from those calls or non calls. It would be bedlam across the entire internet.
My dog was even in disbelief when I showed her the tush push non fumble….

you weren't around when we discussed the tush push a month or so ago. i hate that play with a passion. well no shit the Eagles are going to convert 4th and short 99% of the time when you allow 500 pounds of humanity to clobber Jalen Hurts from behind. nothing about that play screams football to me. know what it screams? bush-league.

and then today a Giant made a brilliant play on the football when Hurts reached the football out on a tush push, and the officials STILL saved them.

the whole tush push fiasco is out of control, and i'm over it

Not to mention the two guards jump early on the tush push most of the time. Against the Chiefs the guards jumped in tandem early at least twice and no false start calls.
When it’s in tandem more than once it looks like it’s designed that way. Looks like they are cheaters and the refs are allowing it.

@perkdog said: That was complete BS, I'm 100% in favor of making it illegal now

Understanding that everyone hates the "tush push" and seeing that bad/missed call should upset any real fan of the NFL. But does that mean a play that is 100% legal which any team could/should employ needs to be outlawed?? Because it seems only one team does is really good??

I think the problem is the officials, a point not lost on us here and harped on almost every week.

Put another way, if all the plays that the officials routinely miss or refuse to call are eliminated there won't be much left to watch. Like my Father used to say: There is holding on every play, the officials either don't see it or refuse to call it. Same thing with PI and OL jumping before the snap. We see this stuff every week pretty much in every game.

This whole "tush push" makes me think of stuff Belichick did with the Patriots. He was a genuis when it comes to finding ways to play within the rules and do the unexpected. A better example is Sam Wyche and his "no huddle" offense with the Bengals. Apparently when stuff like that is done it's easier and more effective to whine about it than to defend it and learn how to do it.

Its not a groundbreaking idea, I think teams don't necessarily employ it because they basically Qab sneak or Run plays usually do. ok, plus since it's an Eagles thing I think they get away with it not being viewed at the same way as if another team ran it, in other words if the Giants were pushing forward and that ball. was swatted away I believe it would have been called a fumble

Just my own personal speculation of course, but we have enough outcomes that are entirely up. to. judgement calls by the refs.

Sam Wyche and the no. huddle, I remember him but might have been too young to remember his no huddle thing, NFL coaches were so by the book back then,, run, run, pass, run, run, pass

@perkdog said: NFL coaches were so by the book back then,, run, run, pass, run, run, pass

During the 1980's is when NFL coaching started to re-think everything to figure out how to get an edge. Everyone was still using the old school Fullback/Halfback/Tight End/2 Receiver set-up. Bill Walsh started the revolution and Sam Wyche was one of his principal disciples prior to Cincy. When he came up with the "no huddle" all the other teams he ran it against stood around(actually they panicked!!) and said "Hey, you can't do that" when in fact they could and did it very well.

Something similar happened in the Ohio State game a few weeks ago. In college there is a rule that if the offense substitutes the defense has to be allowed to substitute, also. The referee will stand between the Center and QB until the defensive substitution is done to prevent a play from starting. The play clock continues to run _. Whenever the Buckeyes substituted late in an attempt to catch the defense at a disadvantage the opposing coach would wait till they came to the line of scrimmage and then he'd substitute_. It resulted in a hurried snap or a time-out and Ryan Day was really aggravated about it.

I really like seeing the system "gamed" by a smart coach. I think that every NFL team should have someone or a team of someones who sole job is to get inside the rules to figure out an advantage.

The judgment calls by the refs could be replaced in a lot of instances by doing what international soccer does with the GPS chip in the ball. College and the NFL though yea they do have an officiating problem like MLB. We need dedicated replay guys and like the ACC does have cameras and audio in there and Ive never understood why some things cant be reviewed. Everything should be able to be reviewed

As for the tush push though most teams just dont want to risk their QB getting hurt with a 1000 pounds of man pushing him both ways. Theres only a couple that could really do it anyways and Hurts with the RB strength is an anomaly.

The bigger issue though is if the tush push were to get banned, you have to ban any push to any player otherwise it makes no sense
