so if sgc is shut down at some point..do the grades get automatically accepted by psa? cgc automatically accepted cgs. so you can have the card reviewed and put into a psa holder with same sgc grade?
that is a very good question. I have quite a few SGC slabs. I dont know if I would ever do a reholder, but the option would be a good one.
I say no shot they accept SGC grades...when those cards were graded (most of them) they had nothing to do with PSA, so completely different standards were used, and in my mind, SGC is a much easier grader than PSA....seen way to many SGC 9.5-10 cards with a soft corner or 2...

plenty of terrible 10's from psa. all of them are inconsistent.
Umm, No.... CGC and CGS are/were the same company, they just put the sports cards in slabs with different flips and had separate advertising/submission instructions, but went to the same place. Now they just use CGC for everything and any reholder gets a CGC flip.

The CGC/CGS thing is more branding while PSA and SGC were different entities with different standards.
There are undergraded SGC and over graded PSA. My opinion is that overall SGC consistency is below PSA.
It wouldn’t rock my world if it were to happen but I doubt it does. It doesn’t make any business sense and I think many collectors would frown.
i don't think the grading is all that different, except for the last 3 years. sgc is a strong product. but to make you review all your cards, would be, in my opinion a money grab. if psa is comfortable allowing them to grade under their brand for 2 years, i would assume their is some appreciation for their grading standards or they would have shut them down immediately.
PSA isn't focused on the other grading companies. They are looking at the other power players in the hobby and figuring out how they can use them to increase thier own leverage. The PSA/Ebay integration has much more impact on the card grading market than the SGC purchase. At this point it looks like Fanatics and PSA/Ebay will be driving the hobby in the near future, everything else is really just noise.
As for SGC, I've heard that some re-packers no longer buy ultra modern SGC for products. However they still buy BGS slabs. For the good of the hobby, PSA should eliminate the SGC brand and offer a conversion special on their slabs. The hobby does need another legit grader and if SGC isn't it, they need to move on to see if BGS or CGC can do it.

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
I would welcome PSA honoring an SGC grade. I own three (3) cards in SGC holders:
1951 Bowman Mantle RC SGC-7 (MBA- Silver)
1948-49 Leaf Jackie Robinson RC SGC-5
1959 Bob Gibson RC SGC-8.5
So the Jordan card I sent to PSA that got a 5, cracked out and sent to SGC and got a 10, I can now send it back to PSA and get a PSA 10? SWEET!
No chance PSA will honour SGC grades, let’s be serious.
Because it would be absurd... mean it must now happen.
And maybe they will do it for free?
By executive order!
That could happen to each individual card graded by SGC if sent to PSA no more than 27 1/3 times for a crossover is my guess.

^ They are also seemingly unable or unwilling to differentiate between counterfeit cards and real ones.... IMHO stay far away from their slabs
