A new journey, seeking out Rattlers with stickers

My first win at a Sheridan Downey Mail Bid auction was an 1833 CBH P58CAC Rattler - sticker applied after photo (first time holding a Rattler). That got me hooked on the slab. I have always liked Rattler holders. The problem has been finding affordable Classic Heads and Early gold in them.

Rattlers are my favorite of all the slabs out there. I will admit I have not held an early ANACS slab. There is something about hearing that coin rattle and spin in the slab that interests me. Unfortunately that frustrated a lot of people and they took advantage of a very cheap crossover offer to get them out of these slabs. Commems seem to have been saved from the crossover as their value for an upgrade was probably not worth the cost back then.

I had hoped to pick up a few stickered slabs at the Rosemont show but did not find any on display. I did have luck on GC a few weeks back so here are my second two slabs in my collection.

As they say, Collect the slab not the coin

The San Diego design has always been a favorite. The BTW was just a last second pick up because it matched the San Diego appearance and shipping is expensive on one item.

The hunt will continue for others that fit the collection. I have reached out to a few slab collectors here to get ideas. Feel free to contact me if you want to share anything about this adventure. I am sure there will be more very soon.
