    Or simply cancelations from yesterday

Close to $1,000 premium, too much for me, even though I like the design very much.

  • rooksmithrooksmith Posts: 1,159 ✭✭✭✭

Yes but is it a coin? Actually the silver melt plus some premium for scarcity makes it a "collectable", but the price is always a function of demand. Silver went up over $50 spot today.

The Mint received my two flawed Liberty coins today at the return center in Texas. They will debut for the now higher price after a few days. haha

I don't mind buying modern bullion and paying a premium -- if the design moves me. This one doesn't but if you like it, go for it. Everyone has different likes. :)

For me, if I was going to buy modern, it would be (another) 2009 MMIX UHR Saint maybe in PF70 PL or something like that.....or even one of the pattern recreations from the Saint-Gaudens National Historical Society commemoratives. Premiums there have collapsed as gold has risen.

Finally, for about $4,500 - $5,000 you can get a really nice MS-66 Saint for certain years, with CAC. :) They were only about $500-$750 cheaper when gold was $2,000 less; the premium erosion helps a new buyer. :)

  • WACoinGuyWACoinGuy Posts: 1,175 ✭✭✭

I have the 2017 UHR ... really tempted to sell it since it is "just bullion," but I do like the design; just can't bring myself to do it.

Yeah but if ya get duds, also it might cost ya $60 to $100 plus for return shipping, registered, insured and signature confirmation plus the time to assemble the shipment and take pictures etc...

Be happy if you get pf70 material !

Never thought the day would come when I would see MS69 or PF69 as
    “duds”.

It's ridiculous. The standard should be 69. If they have to ship icky 70s, the price is going to go even higher

Well I'm not sure where this designation is coming from. A 69 is certainly fine visually in most cases, but the reality of the market is a significant premium for perfection. So I'm not sure anyone here thinks that the 69s are duds, but they certainly sell for a discount to a 70. If that makes it a dud, I guess that makes sense.

Nope. I referred to flawed Sunflower Libs that I returned as " duds". Flaws visible to naked eye. I didn't qualify them as any particular grade. But implied earlier that they were definitely not 70 material. Thanks!

Yes. They were 69s. If you read the person I responded to, he said he can't imagine anyone referring to 69s as "duds". You did.

$4644 for sale at PURE online.

  • 306 available at 7:45am EST this morning. The sales data as of Oct. 12 (according to CoinNews.Net) show sales at 11,828. I guess the total mintage turned out to be 12,000-ish.

Seems like it'd be pretty iffy to order at this point, all the returns must be among the small quantities now popping up for sale.

Successful BST transactions: EagleEye, Christos, Proofmorgan,
Coinlearner, Ahrensdad, Nolawyer, RG, coinlieutenant, Yorkshireman, lordmarcovan, Soldi, masscrew, JimTyler, Relaxn, jclovescoins, justindan, doubleeagle07

Now listen boy, I'm tryin' to teach you sumthin' . . . . that ain't an optical illusion, it only looks like an optical illusion.

    My mind reader refuses to charge me. . . . . . .

    ATS 107 now

  • it's a hard price to swallow, but worth it if you think there's a 70 coming your way. with these coins, i would assume they are returns and would grade at 68 or 69.

Better to buy them from PURE where Trey checks them for quality before their sale. I bought 2 from a late batch the mint had and they graded PF 69. Bought 3 from PURE and they came in as PF 70. Current ask is $4800. A couple days ago 2 were sold for $4644 each.
I did return one to the mint since I could see a flaw on the coin.

Trey does not check them for quality. He checks that they match the product description. I have sold coins through Pure that will surely grade PR69. Also I have asked about selling coins like graded (69) First Spouses and I was told to sell them under the raw coin product description so be aware that you might end up with a slabbed 69 or perhaps they might even crack them out and put them in capsules.

I bought 3 Raw Laser ASEs from Pure and they all graded PF69DCAM. I don't think I got screened coins, I think they are just poor quality to begin with.
