1889 CC Morgan feedback

Hi everyone,
I’d really appreciate some honest feedback on this 1889-CC Morgan Silver Dollar
mainly trying to confirm:
1. Authenticity — does everything look genuine for this date and mint?
2. Cleaning — do you see any signs that it might have been cleaned, wiped, or otherwise altered?
3. Grade estimate — roughly where do you think it would fall (VF, EF, etc.) if it straight-grades?
I’ve attached multiple photos of both sides taken indoors under neutral light. The surfaces look original to me, but I’d really like a few experience eyes on it. Thank you!

It looks genuine to me, but not original.
A 'details' VF-XF grade for environmental damage/cleaning.
Agree, looks genuine but cleaned. Would have been a high VF or even Xf40 if not messed with. Looks severely dipped.

It is a date/mm that is heavily counterfeited. Having it slabbed would improve its appeal to potential buyers.
It’s been passed down through my family. My grandfather left it to me. Wondering now if it would straight grade or not.
I don't think it would straight-grade, but having the authenticity verified by a TPG for this particular date/mm is worth it... IMHO... as @291fifth said, it's a heavily counterfeited piece.

Definitely not straight grading. Genuine probably.

It appears authentic to me, but as has already been said multiple times, it is not original. Slab it to protect it from further deterioration if your intent is to keep passing it down (or if you want to sell it).

P is my favorite….but it seems to be missing from a lot of coins. Are they errors? 🤔🤪😂
Looks like a Vam 5, far date and right 'C' lower and slanted. Easy to authenticate by owner. Only a handful of Vams and definitely a far date, so narrowed search even more.
I notice the lower slanted “C”. I’m gonna get it graded by PCGS at least to get it slabbed hopefully it straight grades.
As even a details coin is worth slabbing, don't be disappointed if it does come back details. But is wasn't too worn and does have a lot of surface left, so it is still an expensive coin. Probably the 2nd best Morgan to inherit.
Definitely authentic, virtually certain it will not straight grade and will come back VF Details. Getting it slabbed for authenticity is a smart idea as the coin will hold the most value in a details holder. A nice date / mintmark combo to inherit.
Hopefully Burfle will chime in on this. He did a thread re things to look for re counterfeit expensive coins, including the 1889 CC Morgan. Agree with the grade estimates and body bag assertions above, but while Morgans aren't generally hard to grade, this is not my series.

Why do you hate Carson City?
I'll go against the prevailing view and say that, to me, it appears original and worthy of a straight grade unless the bottom reverse rim marks are too much for them.
If it grades then VF-20 to VF-30.

Update! PCGS graded it vf25! Thank you for all your input appreciate the feedback help and suggestions.
Was it stored in a plastic pouch? If so, give it a soak in pure acetone, re-soak and see if it changes it's look. I think I see some PVC.
I see an XF40, if it is verdigris or PVC residue.
