I went to the eBay to see what they had in tiny coins and found a whole niche. There I found this crappy looking Nixon mini-cent; I looked at the reverse and discovered the prototype for the reverse of the 2019 Lincoln Birthplace Commemorative.
My smallest coin: I bought it from a local who sells the stuff he finds outside the ruins of Ephesus, Turkey.
In addition to telling me that it is a genuine Lidian stater, he cautioned me that he or I would be arrested for possessing it. For kickers, he added that he had regular collectors from abroad who returned to purchase the gold that he found. I gave him forty-five bucks for six coins (three silver-colored fakes, two smooth bronze ones). Even though I did not think that it was real, I did not care to confuse the customs officials. I removed a rivet from my belt and jammed it in, I threw the others in my pocket with a bunch of change.

In research, he admitted uncertainty openly. “If we knew what it was we were doing, it would not be called research, would it?” This shows humility. Even a Nobel laureate accepted doubt. That humility makes the quote less cynical and more observational.

This one is probably my smallest coin, although I have a tiny Franklin Mint medal somewhere that claims to be the smallest something, I’d have to do a treasure hunt to find it though, so small I keep misplacing it 😉

The smallest US coin is the Type 1 gold dollar at 13mm while the lightest US coin is the Type 2 and 3 silver three cent coin at 0.75 grams.

My smallest U.S. Coin is an 1855 trime while my smallest foreign coin is a Great Britain Maundy Penny.
For those of you that have the Panama Pill, would anyone be able to do me the small (pun intended) favor of measuring the diameter with digital calipers? It's the last of the Panamanian coins I need an accurate diameter for before designing albums for that nation.

I think that my trimes are the smallest US that I have, but I got my Mom a Widow's Mite (Judean Prutah (103-76 BC)) and those are smaller, the lowest denomination that circulated in the era up to early AD times.

I have one and I will make a note to measure this for you. I also have the Whitman Bookshelf type album for Panama, I could measure the hole in that book for the Pill also if that would be helpful.
