October Tricks or Treats...What's in your Halloween Bag

I will start this month off with a card which arrived early this afternoon (10/1). It's a low-to-mid grade card presenting above its assigned grade. I was sold on the centering as well as the bright, beautiful hues. And no creases or spider wrinkles.

Gorgeous card! With no creasing/wrinkling and great centering, it’s hard to believe those corners warrant the lower grade.

    Keith…

Those 57s are centered with beautiful color….producing exceptional eye appeal of a much higher grade. Congrats…on those pickups!

KC, congrats. Both of those are art work. Beautiful 57's.

Think that way for everyone. All these beautiful cards are ugly.

Ok thanks. Gonna hold off posting on my RIP thread. I have some DOOZY 1/1 Break Cards that will be coming up.

I looked over into the coin forum and found a thread that indicated the image distortion issue is being worked on.

I was wondering if it was just me seeing the images poorly :-)

Wow those OPC 6s are yesterdays 8s. Great pickup, sucks to be the submitter thinking he had NM cards (spoiler, he did).

Got these in the mail recently.

First, I mentioned this last month as something I was targeting when I saw it mentioned on the Angels broadcast. As everyone knows, Trouty is my favorite player to watch, and I rarely miss a game. Thank God, though, for MLB.TV and the archives. I just find it absolutely fascinating that a player can be so exceptionally good with nothing on the line, and then turn into such a schlub with just the slightest increase in pressure.

This is modeled with the 2011 Update design, and likely has an even less pop than the actual card. I love it!

This next one is self explanatory, as I love all things Trouty!

Then, of course, also being a Royals fan, I had to finally pick up a Greg Holland bobblehead. He's the pitcher that ended both Game 2 and Game 3 of the 2014 ALDS by striking out Trouty each time with ease. Game 3 was 11 years ago today, in fact. It really is so hard to believe that it's been 11 years since Trouty last played in the postseason. I hold out hope that I can live long enough to see it finally happen again.

Being a completionist, even though I find it ridiculously stupid that this card is required, I finally picked up the 1982 Tom Seaver error card. It is the last card that I need for the 1982 Topps Hall of Fame subset, as it's currently constructed. I'm sure there will be a few additions made eventually, like Terry Francona and Dusty Baker, and perhaps even a few more.

If you are unfamiliar with the error, the word "tied" on the back of the card is missing the letter "i". Lol

A large number of Robin Yount rookie cards come with a big blue puddle between his legs, which you can obviously see and is completely ignored when grading, but the missing letter here, on the back, is a significant variation. OK, got it...
