Speaking of GSC Great Southern? (Semi Important Buyer Beware?)

Regarding the toned AT or Not, Capped Bust Post earlier,
They took $675+153, over the phone to pay for that and another item.
They decided once I asked them to cancel due to the AT overpricedness, there would have been a return, they canacelled and said 9/25 they refunded the cards!
As of today, no refund came in. Made a dispute w/ card.
What do I do? Each time I call they say we refunded your purchases on 9/25.
They don't seem to be honest, as another rep said they refunded them on Monday, which is NOT 9/25... What to do? This is something I never would expect. They say they have a return policy.

Oh brother.
eBay returns are straightforward - just follow the normal eBay process and take any questions or concerns to eBay support.
Seems like a perfect time for you to stop buying coins altogether.
i'm going to be double sure
these 2 were ebay purchases?
yes and they have an online sales dept and we did it off eBay and invoice directly. paid over phone. no receipt, just invoice and them taking money off the card!
Go to BBB / file a suit?
That was breathtakingly foolish of you.
Stop buying coins immediately. You've failed too many times and apparently have no common sense. This latest failure takes the cake!
then they weren't ebay sales
they were off ebay transactions which ebay frowns upon and where you lose ebay buyer protections
you did the first step and did a chargeback.
do you have anything via email saying they refunded your card? perhaps you can be sneaky and email them re:order# and ask if they shipped the coins or refunded the card?
bbb won't get you much at this early state
you'll likely find that it is too early to do small claims
let the credit card company do its magic first
Depending on their credit card processor, it may take a few days for their refund to be credited back to your account.
We are on the 25th of Sept supposed refund, it should be back by now.
you can always call the cc company and see if they have a pending refund from them or if you'll just have to wait for the dispute process
you are oh s---mode. be as calm as still water right now. the charge back will likely take care of it
ignore those telling you to stop buying
just buy from reputable dealers with a return policy
as you can see, off ebay transactions can be hazardous
if you want to know who is reputable you can ask here
be careful not to post about open auctions. you may be exposing yourself to competition in some way. also others may already be bidding on it and they don't want the attention
with a return policy you can receive the coin then ask your questions here
are you trying to put together a particular series?
Absolutely stop buying.
In the last 30 days the OP had placed 307 bids on 160 different eBay listings.
Yes, I'd slow down a bit on the bidding and gain the knowledge you need to become a successful and happy collector.
peacockcoins
when can he start buying?
oh. that's too much for a beginner
greatly slow down
I returned somethig to WalMart recently. Gent said 1-3 days. I said, "It will be posted to my account by the time I make it out of this room.

Wow.
Zero to 60 in buying, returning, escalating ... and to think I blinked and missed it all (almost - I commented on the AT CBH).
.
Regarding the charges on your Credit Card, call your CC company. That money ain't going anywhere if you talk them, calmly and honestly explain the circumstance, and tell them the sale was cancelled, etc. That has nothing to do with the seller any more.
.
Reading some of the responses ... regarding buying ... stop right now.
I know, you don't know me, so who the f*** cares what I think?
Doesn't matter, I'm going to give you my suggestion anyway.
.
You can buy ONE coin.
Find it. Research it (which may include asking some of us about it).
Order it. Recieve it. Study it.
Fall in (or out of) love with it.
Show it around some more.
Ask questions and try to learn something more about that ONE COIN.
.
If you make it through that, rinse and repeat.
If not, well, maybe this hobby isn't for you unless you just like throwing good money after bad and getting your heart rate up for the experience.

I hate this whole thread.
I don't like people trashing businesses (even that one) in the middle of a transaction when the outcome isn't known. [As people pointed out credit card transactions are not airways reversed immediately. I had one take 5 days when my grocery store accidentally put through a charge twice.]
I also don't like the "stop buying" posts. They read as unkind. Yes, his knowledge base is low and he's making a lot of mistakes. It's his money. If he wants to pay tuition, who are we to interfere?
To the OP: there's an old saying, buy the book before the coin. You will save a lot of money if you study virtual coins before buying real ones. I know, the acquisitions can be intoxicating. Stay sober.
In this day and age, with certification and some really excellent excellent auction venues (Heritage, Stacks, GC) you can acquire coins with very little risk. They also won't be bargains. But you need expertise to actually find bargains without risk. You bought a fake Morgan and an AT Bust half that we know about. That would not have happened if you bought certified coins from GC or Heritage. In the long run, you'll save money by playing it safe until your expertise matches your enthusiasm.
Good luck.

Do a search on these very message boards about GSC. You will find so much information that has been posted over the past two plus decades.
GSC is definitely excluded from our club's list of recommended dealers.

There are many dealers/sellers that have 'bad' reputations and people stay away from. They do occasionally have some diamonds but to find those gems you have to wade through a lot of dirt/trash.

Update;
Police report filed with very interested authorities today through Boerne, TX today 10/3/2025. They are (Great Southern Holdings, LLC) stealing the funds from the transaction. Never have I seen a merchant outright lie and not return funds for merchandise that never got sent.
Despite many negative posts, here, about that company's eBay’s listings, “stealing funds” doesn’t sound like something they’d do.
I recommend calling them again and letting them know you haven’t received the credit they said they issued. I’d also, email them and contact your credit card company to have the charge reversed. I’d be surprised if you get anywhere with your police report.

This is truly making the mightiest of mountains out of a tiny molehill.
You bought a bad coin after there was 100% consensus here recommending against it and paid off of eBay to try to save money (despite the auction taking place on eBay). This followed your purchase of an obviously fake Morgan dollar; a transaction which you were very proud of.
Now you're filing police reports over aa few hundred dollars instead of being patient for a couple of days or calling the merchant? I'm curious how "very interested" the authorities were.
I hate to be on the side of GSC because their numismatic practices leave a lot to be desired...but this entire thing is 100% your fault. I can't believe you have caused me to have sympathy for GSC but here we are.

This guy is a troll. We need to ignore this idiot.

You all have the story very mixed up.
There were no items purchased from the seller. They took payment and did NOT ship anything.
Called card. Do you all want to see screenshots of the evidence filed sofar?
Never bought the coin from them. Never bought or received anything for that matter from this company. They did take the funds however. Let's see where the chargeback, police report, and maybe legal advice goes. Refund sent 9/25 to two cards. Neither card received either one of the refunds that they processed. This is not looking good if you see the facts and time lapse.
I don’t understand. If you didn’t buy anything, why did you give them your credit card information? Regardless, it should be much easier and more effective to have the charges removed by your credit card company than to mess with a police report, etc.

In reference, the previous poster said I bought a bad coin didnt like and returned. Not the case.
I was attempting to pay a bill on 2 coins owed. They never refunded it. It is very fishy and the police are involved AS WELL, as the Card co is in the mix. Who does their job first, we shall see but they deserve this.
It isn't my fault that I bought items off their online store and paid a bill and they haven't refunded the money or sent the merch. That is not at ALL my fault to be honest.
He did purchase and had a change of mind and tried to cancel the sale. He didn't say that they provided a tracking number so it's safe to assume that they accepted the cancelation, but apparently they have not issued a refund or if they did they issued it to some other account. An issued refund should show in your account almost immediately with actual acceptance in 2-3 days like most charges do. If the charged has processed to his account then there should be an option to dispute it.
In an earlier post you wrote “Never bought the coin from them. Never bought or received anything for that matter from this company. They did take the funds however.”
Now, you’ve posted “It isn't my fault that I bought items off their online store and paid a bill and they haven't refunded the money or sent the merch”.
So you’ve posted both that you did and didn’t buy coins from them. So you’ve unnecessarily made the actual facts confusing.

The police investigating means it's serious.
The statements true. There was a pending bill, they took the information from card, charged it, cancelled, never shipped, never refunded. Hope that clears that all up
That's a great point.
They could have issued it to another account other than my own.
Then the refund ID they gave me applies to that "said" account. What a group of crooks if that were to be true!
I have not received a penny on two separate cards (where BOTH charges were made) yet from them and today is Friday October 3rd, 2025 and these "refunds" were done on September 26th. according to "B" and Justin of Great Southern's front desk, they refunded the original payment method. Both of them. Would like to hear what Bobby has to say as well, or maybe this police report will help shed light on things.
If anybody knows anyone at this company through CU, please help.
Sure, here are the charges from the bank statement one sec
That is for transaction 1.
The additional posts by the OP should have changed your mind.

You DID buy the coin, not like it and canceled the transaction. To say you did not purchase the coin is inaccurate based on your own post.

They cancelled everything. never owned it. Hope for my own satisfaction that the police go in to their shop. Would be great to see what "happened"
The police investigating means that you filed a police report.
You may have complicated your own CC claim by calling it a crime.
Poor customer service is generally not criminal.

Card told me it was good that it was filed.
They very well may have the money. Don't forget two cards (different cards) were refunded by this merchant. Neither one saw a penny yet.
By the way, you may also have screwed yourself by disputing the charge. It is now impossible (or at least unwise) for GSC to issue a refund, if they haven't already. You are now at the mercy of the CC company and the police. Get ready for a 90 day investigation.

That's fine. GSC wouldnt even answer the calls. They are playing hard to get now
